Heartbeat Bands
There’s intimacy, there’s connection, and then there’s a ring that accelerates the meaning of all those terms definitively. Rings made by a company called TheTouch allows individuals to feel and see their partner’s heartbeat. On the rimmed surface of the ring, your loved one’s heartbeat will visually echo in an image. The vibration of the rhythm can also be felt through the band. The rings connect through Bluetooth technology and pairs with TheTouch’s app. You tap your ring to send a request to your spouse and if they accept, your life affirming pulsation is safely transmitted to them using a sensor. The rings are sold in stainless steel or gold pairs starting at $599. A rose gold pair, the most expensive, costs just over $2,000. People’s reactions have been curious, fun, and other wonder if the ring can be used for a crazier application and inferences. Let’s just say, If you tell your loved one you’re at the gym, that heartbeat better be pumping.
Green Rio Waters
When the 2016 Rio Olympics are over, they will be remembered for plenty of things. Michael Phelps’ return to glory, Usain Bolt’s amazing sprints, and green pool water. Last week, as Olympic divers were getting ready to practice for the upcoming competition, they were told the pool was closed for training. They were given no explanation by the staff or the Olympic committee. It turns out, the water’s shade looked like the main attraction at an Emerald City pool party. The water was green. Organizers quickly responded after divers began tweeting out photos of the pools in question. They assured everyone that the water was safe and free of health risks. Competitions continued and some swimmers complained about the foul smell of the water.
The Rio officials have now found the culprit that turned the blue water shamrock green: hydrogen peroxide. A staffer mistakenly dumped 160 liters of hydrogen peroxide in the water. The peroxide neutralized the chlorine in the water and allowed for the growth of algae. Officials drained 3,725,000 liters from the diving pools and replaced it with water from the practice pools.
Man Chases His Departing Flight
Missing a plane has happened to the best of us. Everyone has done the chaotic scurry through crowds at the airport, arrived late to the terminal, and find out that they can’t board. It’s a helpless feeling that a man at Madrid-Bajaras Airport in Spain wanted to skip completely. He jumped off the boarding bridge and sprang on the tarmac with his bags in hand.
He then tried to negotiate with workers at the baggage ramp as they were loading luggage onto the craft.

After some time with the grounds crew, the man was surprisingly allowed on the plane. However, the story doesn’t have a happy ending since the man was detained upon landing in the Canary Islands. The passenger skipped several security protocols and measures in his dramatic attempt. It’s safe to say, the next time you miss a flight, it’s better to go ait in the airport lounge & catch the next flight.
Chance The Rapper, Damian Lillard & More Try The So Gone Challenge
The So Gone Challenge isn’t about raising awareness for an illness or dancing to Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo,” but it was as equally effective in social media trending. The beloved song “So Gone” by R&B singer Monica came out in 2003. The resurgence of the track came last week when celebrities and avid music fans started making So Gone Challenge videos in mass. The concept is one of Valentine’s Day glory: write a rap verse speaking on the loved one in your life. Soon after, people moved on from sweet and specializing verses about their current spouse to raps about exes, the love of themselves, and other hilarious tangents. Hip hop act Chance The Rapper, Portland Trailblazers’ star point guard Damian Lillard, and other celebrities all took part in the challenge.

Go Fund My Dubai
GoFundMe has been used as a way for regular people to campaign for money for various causes. Sometimes the circumstances of the person in need are heartwarming, endearing, and chilling. Other times, the reasoning behind a person’s request is ultimately ridiculous. Last week a woman named “Cassandra” asked spectators on GodFundMe to help her husband “Reginald” get a passport. She claimed her husband’s child support was too high. She asserted that he was the victim of an elaborate fraudulent scheme that left him owing $40,000 in child support unknowingly.
Reginald has to pay $500 in child support monthly and its financially crippling them. Reginald wants to go to Dubai where he can allegedly earn double his pay. The GoFundMe in this instance would be floating this couple, for reasons beyond logic and cause. She wants to raise $40,000 for a passport however, a passport is only a fraction of that cost. This scam got everyone talking on social media:
Lady made a GoFundMe account for her husband to get a passport but asking for 40k????.

I have officially seen it all. A GoFundMe to get her husband a passport (oh but really it’s for child support) pic.twitter.com/1H4tvAJzRW

The GoFundMe request’s link is currently deactivated. It appears, Reginald will have to find another way to fulfill his legal obligations without the hard-earned money of the public.
Microwave Fried Chicken
Last week Philly Influencer chronicled the shocking dish known as “Kool-Aid Chicken”. A new concept has emerged and it’s more horrifying then any color dusted chicken could ever be. Microwave chicken, yes fried chicken made in a microwave, has been created. A video of the crime began circulating last week frantically and shocked all who watched.
The steps include: soaking the chicken in milk for 30 minutes, creating a seasoning bag, mixing the chicken in the bag, and then putting it in the microwave for 9 minutes. Here’s a video of you dare to watch:
This offended me on so many levels pic.twitter.com/bhCJvOUh0k

Reactions to the video and recipe were those of confusion and dismay. It’s clear the viewers demand social justice:
