You can’t help but overanalyze the situation.
The trade doesn’t make sense.
Why would the Tennessee Titans basically give away a talent like Dorial Green-Beckham for basically nothing. On paper, the trade looks like one of those amateur ones you receive in a fantasy football league; like Josh Huff for Antonio Brown or something.
Titans general manager Jon Robinson explained the Titans’ logic of shipping Green-Beckham away during a press conference Tuesday.
While the Titans definitely need offensive line help badly with Byron Bell being out for the season with a leg injury, giving up on a talent like Green-Beckham still doesn’t seem worth it. I’ve heard about him showing up to camp overweight, not always lining up correctly, running lazy routes and not having the desired work ethic, but you’re already parting ways with a guy you drafted in the second round just last year.
Titans head coach Mike Mularkey had this to say.
In Tennessee’s defense, at least it traded him instead of cutting him outright like Chip Kelly did of DeSean Jackson.
