Why Trading Sam Bradford to the Vikings Makes No Sense

This post by Adrian Fedkiw was written three days before the Eagles traded Sam Bradford to the Vikings. These are his thoughts on why trading Bradford at the time didn’t make any sense for the Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has stood by his quarterback Sam Bradford from the get-go. The Eagles named him the starter back in April and Pederson has continually defended him during the spring and summer. He’s been asked a million “will Bradford be the starting quarterback” questions against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 and the answer has never wavered.

Yes.

So all of a sudden Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tears his ACL Tuesday a little less than two weeks before the season and the Eagles should just send Bradford to Minnesota?

It makes no sense!

This isn’t about what your thoughts about Bradford are and no, Minnesota isn’t going to give up a first-round pick for him. It sends an awful message to the fans and team. If the Eagles trade Bradford to the Vikings, they are publicly admitting that they aren’t good enough to win this season. And hell, they may not be, but that’s not the point.

The NFC East became wide open when Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo injured his back last week. An 8-8 season might be good enough to take the crown.

By the way, if Bradford goes out there and has a career year, that would enhance his trade value and the Eagles might be able to snag better compensation to what they would’ve received from the Vikings anyway. There would also be an $11 million cap hit if they sent him away.

So why not keep Bradford around?

The guy I’d go after if I was Minnesota would be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Mike Glennon. Colin Kaepernick might be another option, but I believe the most realistic route would be Mark Sanchez.

Bridgewater’s injury is a crusher no doubt. I had the Vikings slotted at 12 wins prior to it, but due to their intimidating defense, I still think they can be a playoff team, even if Marky Mark is trotting out there as the starter every week.

Got the first rounder you said Minnesota wouldn’t give up and Wentz will start as soon as he’s healthy. Apparently they were more concerned about the message keeping the guy you traded the store for wiukd send. That does make sense, unlike thus entire article.

Nobody thought the Vikings would be this desperate, NOBODY. Obviously, things change if a first is involved. The article def makes sense and was something that was talked about a few times during the press conference. You’re entitled to your opinion though.
