The Old School Chevy is back again.
17-year NBA veteran Elton Brand has signed a one-year deal with the Sixers, the team announced Wednesday afternoon.
This is techinically the third contract Brand has signed with the Sixers. His first tenure in the City of Brotherly Love was 2008-12, then again a one-year deal for the 2016-17 season, and now another new deal for the 2017-18 campaign.
Brand’s role with the team is as close to Player-Coach as one can be in professional sports in 2016. He saw limited action last season.
This season will be Brand’s 18th in NBA. Brand appeared in 17 games for Sixers last year; 3 double-figure scoring games, 1 double-double.

The 1999 Chicago Bull draft pick came out of retirement last season to join the Sixers and help mentor its young core of players. It is not confirmed, but Brand’s role will probably be along the same lines as it was last season.
