Two Eagles legends are eligible nominees for the 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame class … officially. Donovan McNabb and Brian Dawkins were announced as two of nine players that would be nominees for the 2017 class on Wednesday night.
McNabb and Dawkins both retired after their 2011 seasons were respectively over. Between them, they have 13 Pro Bowls (Dawkins seven, McNabb six). Their numbers have also been retired by the Eagles (Dawkins 20, McNabb 5). Dawkins is now a member of the Eagles’ front office as a football operations executive.
The other seven nominees that were announced were: Derrick Mason, LaDanian Tomlinson, Chad Johnson, Hines Ward, Bob Sanders, Jason Taylor and Joey Porter. More will be announced in the coming weeks and months.
