From the joy of making the 53-man roster Saturday to the sorrow of being waived Sunday, Monday presented itself some positive news for everybody’s favorite preseason story Paul Turner and fellow undrafted rookie C.J. Smith.
Turner and Smith were named to the Philadelphia Eagles’ 10-man practice squad on Monday, according to a report by Dave Zangaro.
With Paul Turner and CJ Smith signing to #Eagles practice squad, team is at 11 and will have to drop a player.

The Eagles also added fullback Andrew Bonnet, linebackers Quentin Gause and Don Cherry, wide receivers Marcus Johnson and David Watford, cetner Aaron Neary, defensive tackle Aziz Shittu and guard Darrell Greene to that squad. With 11 players currently on the practice squad, one player will have to be let go.
The undrafted Louisiana Tech product Turner led the preseason with 17 receptions to go with 165 yards and a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown during Thursday night’s 14-6 win over the New York Jets. Turner had an unbelievable camp and preseason, you couldn’t have asked more from him. He literally caught every ball thrown his way. Any other year, Turner probably wouldn’t have made the initial 53-man roster, but due to the lack of talent at wide receiver, he was able to sneak on.
Then he was waived Sunday in favor of wide receiver Bryce Treggs, who also went undrafted.
UPDATE: The Eagles released Gause from the practice squad.
