After seeing the porous play of the Eagles wide receivers in that devastating loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, for the umpteenth consecutive week full of drops, it is clear as day that loose cannon Howie Roseman has to trade for a wide receiver before the trade deadline.
It has been rumored for over one week now that the Eagles are in the market for a bigger name, more reliable receiver, however, nothing really has grown from there. On Sunday, Pro Football Talk double-downed on the report.
PFT reports that trade talks are quiet, with the trade deadline coming on Tuesday, however the Eagles are still have their poles in the water, hoping to reel in someone who can catch a football on a consistent basis.
Torrey Smith’s name is still prominently out there as a potential target for the birds. Also, Alshon Jeffrey was thrown into the mix as well, but that was never backed up with any reporting with serious weight behind it.
After seeing what the Eagles offense currently is, nothing more than a small-time dink and dunk rodeo, a new wide receiver went from a want to a need for the birds. Carson Wentz has not been the precise, immaculate prodigy that he was in the first couple weeks of the season, however, the Eagles receivers have continued to drop passes, which mounts pressure on Wentz as he cannot trust anyone.
Not only can these wide receivers not catch the ball, they cannot get open down field, which defenses have now figured out.
Carson Wentz is the only QB to start in each of the last two weeks and NOT complete a pass thrown 20+ yards downfield. 0-4 on those. pic.twitter.com/UP5THnUliv

The Eagles had a total of six dropped passes on Sunday night and their longest pass attempt was thrown by Josh Huff. When Jordan Matthews is serving as your team’s leading receiver, especially with a stat line that reads 11 catches for 65 yards and one touchdown, there needs to be a change.
Howie Roseman needs to get a receiver. Oh, and cut Nelson Agholor.
Okay, I’ll just settle for a new receiver.
