All week leading up to the Sunday night battle, the media and talking heads spouted about how the Eagles defense needed to keep Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley in check. The speedy received poised a match-up nightmare for the birds as it mostly forced Malcom Jenkins to move up to the slot and cover Beasley.
For the most part, Jenkins, and the rest of the defense, stepped up to the challenge, but it did not matter.
Beasley finished with four catches for 53 yards. He was also 0-1 passing.
Although that stat line looks great for the Eagles, Beasley did make plays when it mattered the most for Dallas.
The first time he touched the ball was on a double-pass, where he nearly connected on a deep pass.
He had a crucial catch on a big 3rd and 5 late in the fourth quarter which kept Dallas’ game-tying drive alive.
Then Dak Prescott connected with Beasley in overtime as well to help keep Dallas atop the NFC East.
Overall, the Eagles were able to contain Beasley, for the most part, but not enough to get the victory.
