The Flyers will host the Anaheim Ducks of Los Angeles tonight at the Wells Fargo Center for their home opener. With a record of 1-1-1, the Flyers have played impressively well, save for a few bad moments, during the course of their first three games.
It’s the first season the Flyers begin without the late founder, Ed Snider, at the helm. Snider passed away in April from cancer. The team paid tribute to Snider by giving out bracelets before Game 3 against the Washington Capitals in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. It didn’t end well.
And tonight, the Flyers will give out bracelets to honor Snider once again.
The Flyers will give out light-up anniversary bracelets to fans. The last time they gave out similar bracelets, about 100 fans littered the ice with them during the third period of the Flyers’ 6-1 playoff loss to Washington.
The Flyers received a two-minute penalty because of their fans’ behavior, and fans got a scolding from public-address announcer Lou Nolan.
I don’t think we’ll see more of the same tonight. Yeah, it’s the home opener, but don’t expect to see fans throwing the bracelets on the ice… again.
And we’ll be right there to bring you some play-by-play from the press box. Yep, Philly Influencer now has credentials to cover Flyers games this season. Follow us for more.
