Barrett Brooks agreed with Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and his decision to leave Halapoulivaati Vaitai in the game despite struggling mightily in the first half. Brooks was an offensive lineman during his time in the league, saying he’s done it before, but excused Pederson for not replacing Vaitai. Here’s part of what Brooks said.
“You can’t do that anyway, simply because Andrew Gardner did not practice out there at right tackle. So, you can’t just expect a guy to go from left tackle for the entire year then move him over to right tackle in the middle of a game.”
Brooks’ television compadre, Seth Joyner, disagreed vehemently.
“I would ask ‘why?’ … Because if Big V got hurt, they would have to make that move, am I correct? [Brooks: It would be Tobin, then.] Joyner: It doesn’t matter. Then go to Tobin. Whatever you have to do. There’s a couple of things I particularly don’t like. You know, you didn’t want to send the guy a message. Are you trying to win football games? Or are you worried about people’s feelings here?”
It was a good exchange between the two. You can watch the entire segment from Eagles Postgame Live below.
