Nerlens Noel is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
The Philadelphia 76ers and Noel failed to agree to a contract extension prior to the Oct. 31 deadline.
The big man is clearly not thrilled with his situation with the Sixers, saying before the season that a roster featuring a trio of talented bigs wouldn’t work. The 22-year-old is currently out of action after having “elective” knee surgery and is expected to miss the first 3-to-5 weeks of the year.
Noel has career averages of 11.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game over two NBA seasons. He has the potential to become an elite defender and rim protector, although his offensive game is limited.
