Shayne Gostisbehere was named Philly’s pro athlete of the year today. Mere hours later, Flyers coach Dave Hakstol confirmed he’d be sitting Ghost tonight against the Winnipeg Jets.
Who’s replacing Ghost? Andrew MacDonald.
The move is obviously an attempt at sending a message to Gostisbehere and the Flyers as a whole, who have tremendously underachieved this season. Ghost has three goals and seven assists, but is a minus-four on the ice. He won’t be there on the power play, so their first unit could suffer as a result. The Internet is pissed.
Winnipeg boasts a 9-7-2 record and is currently in second place in the Central Division.
Ghost’s benching might be even more egregious than the Sixers sitting Embiid last night [not really].
