Eagles were “Ready to Go” against the Bengals, According to Doug Pederson

When Doug Pederson was introduced by Angelo Cataldi during his weekly WIP Morning Show appearance Monday morning, he joked about his approval rating being down since the spring.

That’s not the first thing I want to hear out of your mouth Doug, especially after Sunday’s embarrassing 32-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Then he goes on to say that he felt during the pre-game warmups that the Eagles were more ready to play than the Bengals.

“During pre-game warm ups yesterday I made a comment to the team and they felt the same thing. We felt our guys were more into the game than our opponent. There was no energy in the stadium, there was no excitement from the other team. Those guys were focused. Those guys were ready to go. It’s just unfortunate they weren’t able to get it done.”

Unfortunate is putting it mildly. And it definitely didn’t appear like the team was ready to go, they looked lifeless and disinterested.

One of the things that has been brought is whether or not Pederson is too nice, whether he gets angry at his players as Cataldi asked.

“What people see on gameday is different than during the week. The conversations I have with players and the way we approach practice, when things don’t go right in practice, we repeat plays. There is a fine line between screaming and yelling, which I don’t necessarily agree with, but at the same time holding players accountable for their actions and for the the lack of discipline during games, that is my job and my responsibility,” Pederson said.

The positive Pederson brought up the fact that despite all of the adversity and chaos that the Eagles are only two games out of the wild card, but did admit “we’re not where we need to be.”

The Eagles have lost seven of their last nine games following a 3-0 start.
