Lane Johnson: I Failed the Team This Year

The Philadelphia Eagles began the season 3-0 with Lane Johnson in the starting lineup, but have since taken a nosedive once his 10-game suspension went in effect.

Johnson admitted Tuesday during a meeting with reporters that he failed the team this year.

I failed the team this year. Things could’ve been different, it’s on me.

At least he’s finally taking some accountability.

I don’t put the blame on others. I’m on a lot of people’s shit list, but I have a lot of people on my shit list as well. That thing will get settled here within the next couple of months so we’ll see what happens.

He’s definitely on a lot of Eagles fans shit lists. After tweeting out #FlyEaglesFly on Monday night, Johnson received a lot of hateful replies.

Johnson, who signed a five-year, $56.3 million contract during the offseason, which made him the highest paid right tackle in the NFL, has lost guaranteed money due to his second offense for PED use. He hasn’t been happy with how the league has handled the suspension since the beginning and has lawsuits pending against the NFLPA and the manufacturer of the amino acid company.

One more positive drug test will result in a two-year ban from the league and a fourth will result in a permanent ban. He again vowed to never take another supplement in his career.

You take a multivitamin. A fish oil. It’s more for anti-inflammatory. It’s kind of the essential pack that everybody takes. You don’t necessarily need it. You can go through minicamp with food. That’s just what a lot of guys do.

Johnson said the Eagles’ 2-8 record during his absence has been weighing a lot on his mind.

It’s something that’s been weighing on my mind the whole time. Even now, when I look at them, I feel like a lot of things could have happened differently for the season. I’m not saying that anyone one player can do that much, but, I feel like I could have helped the team in a lot of ways.
I Let the team down. I felt like we had a lot of momentum. I felt like we should have been 4-0 after the Detroit game. It sucks the way it is. It’s all on me. All I can do is play. I can talk all day about it. I have to prove it through the rest of my contract.

Yes he does.
