The report was also confirmed by Jon Heyman and Ken Rosenthal.
A few minutes after the initial reports of the trade surfaced, Gelb broke news on who the Phillies are giving as part of the deal.
Josh Tobias is going to the Red Sox, according to a source. No cash involved; Phillies assume Buchholz’s 1-year, $13.5 million deal.

Buchholz, 32, has been in the league for 10 years, all of which with the Boston Red Sox. The right-hander has a 3.96 career ERA with an 81-61 record.
Tobias, who the Phillies are giving up, hasn’t gotten past Single-A ball. The 24-year old has bumped up through the different levels of Single-A, playing for both the Clearwater Threshers and the Lakewood Blueclaws in 2016. Tobias was a 10th round draft pick in 2015 for the Phillies.
To make room for Buchholz, the Phillies made a corresponding move, after the organization announced the trade as official late Tuesday morning.
To make room for Buchholz on the 40-man roster, the Phillies have designated third baseman Richie Shaffer for assignment.
