In his first year of eligibility, former Eagles safety and current team executive, Brian Dawkins, was named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017 on Tuesday night.

Dawkins had 37 interceptions in his 16-year career. He returned two of them for touchdowns. But he was an integral part of the Eagles’ defense and a leader on and off the field during his time in Philadelphia. While safeties often get no respect in terms of the Hall, it doesn’t surprise me one bit Dawkins made it as a finalist. Now, if he’s actually inducted? That’ll be something.
The top 15 finalists are being updated here.
UPDATE: Terrell Owens was also named a finalist.
