The takeover in Canton will have to wait at least another year.
Brian Dawkins did not make the cut in his first year on the Hall of Fame ballot, according to CSN Philly’s Reuben Frank.
Dawkins spent the first 13 years of his career with the Eagles before signing with the Denver Broncos in 2009. He was one of the premier safeties in the game during his playing days, known for his passion, leadership, aggressiveness ball-hawking and hard-hitting style. Dawkins stated that he has no hard feelings any more about how his career in Philadelphia ended. The nine-time Pro Bowler and four-time NFL first teamer intercepted 37 passes during his phenomenal 16-year career, returning a pair for touchdowns.
There’s a special relationship between Dawkins and the fans of Philadelphia and Weapon X got emotional while talking about them in the middle of November after he was named a Hall of Fame semifinalist.

Dawkins was looking to become just the eighth “true” safety to make it into Canton and the first since 1981.
