So everyone’s going crazy because Carson Wentz spent some time with upcoming free agent running back Latavius Murray on Sunday in California. Does this mean the 27-year-old is coming to Philadelphia after starting 28 games for the Oakland Raiders the last two seasons?
Not quite.
Here’s the picture that captured everyone’s attention. Murray claimed on the Instagram that he was there to help.

Wentz and Murray share representation with Rep1 Sports so I’m not looking too much into this. While Murray might be the best upcoming free agent running back this offseason and it seems very likely the Eagles are parting ways with Ryan Mathews this summer, I wouldn’t be interested in offering Murray say $6 million a year. There are a plethora of talented backs in the NFL Draft that you can get for much cheaper. Can Dalvin Cook fall to the Birds please?!
I’m passing on Murray at this time given the circumstances. Murray ran for a career-high 12 touchdowns in 2016, which was fifth in the NFL. Five Eagles running backs combined for 15 scores last season.
