What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: Mar. 24-26

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. 1. American Whiskey Convention


Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way
When: Friday, March 24th, 6:30 PM.

Citizens Bank Park opens its doors to this tasting and sampling event. Inside the Hall of Fame Club you will find a diverse selection of dozens of single malts, whiskeys, ryes, bourbons, and more American distilled spirits. VIP access gets you entry in to a Master Tasting Class with Woodford Reserve, free parking, and tastings of limited bottles. General admission is $100.

2. Starkbierfest


Where: Brauhaus Schmitz, 718 South St.
When: Friday, March 24th, 5:00 PM; Saturday, March 25th, 1:00 PM, 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM; Sunday, March 26th, 1:00 PM.

Brauhaus Schmitz hosts its Fifth Annual Starkbierfest. There will be over fifteen German strong biers, traditional black and gold decorations all around, and plenty of snack options. Live musical entertainment will be rocking the celebration each day of the festivities. Each session entry fee is $15.

3. AAMP 40th Anniversary Gala


Where: Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market St.
When: Friday, March 24th, 6:30 PM.

The African American Museum in Philadelphia celebrates 40 years of infusing culture and education into the city this Friday. Over 600 business will come together to celebrate this great regional institution and the pioneering displays of art, history, and more that it has cultivated through the years.

4. Finesse Mitchell


Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E Laurel St.
When: Friday, March 24th, 8:00 PM and 10:15 PM; Saturday, March 25th, 7:30 PM and 9:45 PM.

Saturday Night Live alum Finesse Michell brings his humor to the Punch Line Philly Stage this weekend. He’s made appearances on television broadcasts such as BET Comic View, The Arsenio Hall Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, NBC’s Today Show, and more. Come out to any of his four shows to hear some hilarious jokes with edge and to have a fun time.

5. New Found Glory


Where: Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden St.
When: Friday, March 24th, 7:00 PM.

Alternative rock band New Found Glory will be playing at Union Transfer this Friday. The punk act consisting of Jordan Pundik, Chad Gilbert, Ian Grushka, and Cyrus Bolooki will release their ninth studio album next month. The band’s Philadelphia stop on their “20 Years of Pop Punk” tour will have some of their early 2000’s hits and new material.

6. The Temptation and The Four Tops


Where: Keswick Theatre, 291 N Keswick Ave.
When: Friday, March 24th, 8:00 PM.

The Temptations and The Four Tops set the standard from American pop years ago. Products of the prosperous and trendsetting Motown machine, these legendary acts continue to entertain masses across the globe. From “The Way You do the Things You Do” to “I Can’t Help Myself” come to the Keswick Theatre to see and hear some of the best to ever grace the stage.

7. Garth Brooks


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, March 24th, 7:00 PM; Saturday, March 25th, 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM; Sunday, March 26th, 7:00 PM.

Along with his wife , who happens to be country star Trisha Yearwood, music megastar Garth Brooks will be making a home at the Wells Fargo Center for the entire weekend. The singer-songwriter and multiple Grammy winner is one of the best-selling solo acts in the United States. Brooks released his newest release last year titled Gunslinger. Come see this powerhouse act light up the stage and ignite the crowd.

8.  Namas Day Philly


Where: WHYY, 150 6th St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

This Saturday Philadelphia will be hosting a day-long yoga festival. Over a dozen instructors will be conducting exclusive workshops and instructional classes for your centering needs. From deep meditation to discussion, there will be something for everyone. This unique event will be celebrating the majesty of this great mental, spiritual, and physical discipline.

9. Greensgrow Farms 20th Anniversary Season Opening


Where: Greensgrow Farms, 2501 E. Cumberland St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 4:00 PM; Sunday, March 26th, 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM.

This Saturday Greensgrow Farms will be celebrating their 20 years of providing a harvest of service to the community. On Saturday, there will be a mural unveiling and a reception. This Sunday at Greensgrow West, 5123 Baltimore Avenue, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, live music, an open house, a reception, and several other activities.

10. Be Beautiful Expo


Where: Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Radio 100.3 WRNB is hosting their 3rd Annual Be Beautiful Expo this Saturday. The Pennsylvania Convention Center will be booming with a full day of vendors, speaker series, music, tents, and more. This will be a great day of empowerment, engaging conversations, and fashion and beauty discoveries. The expo will also feature Philadelphia’s own  and musical act Vivian Green. 11. Fillmore Chili Cookoff


Where: The Fillmore Philadelphia, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 12:30 PM.

The Fishtown Neighbors Association has something savory for you this Saturday. Fishtown’s 7th Annual Chili Cook Off will have the best in pit chefs and home cooks going to culinary war. There will be live music, free Weckerly’s Ice Cream, several drink and beverage options, and all-you-can-eat chili. Tickets are $20.

12. Lock and Key Singles Event


Where: Padddy Whacks Irish Sports Pub, 150 South St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 8:00 PM.

In the day and age of dating sites and DM sliding, people have to continually get creative in their search to find “the one.” This Saturday at Paddy Whacks come break the ice with happy hour drink specials and amazing food. There will be prizes, giveaways, great conversations, and of course singles ready to mingle.

13. The Old City Craft Beer & Restaurant Stoll


Where: Various locations in Old City
When: Saturday, March 25th, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

This Old City bar and restaurant stroll has more than ten locations ready to open their doors and liven up your Saturday evening. You will get a custom craft beer crawl mug, discounted drink specials, a map of the several locations, and access to specialty menus. The sunny weather will be the perfect match for this fun event that will be a fun way to kick off the fist weekend of Spring.

14. Penn Masala


Where: Annenberg Center, 3680 Walnut St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 8:00 PM.

This world-renowned a cappella group has the added esteem of being a product of Philadelphia. The group assembled at the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 and has toured several continents ever since. Besides making appearances in successful feature films such as Pitch Perfect 2, the group has achieved commercial success. They have released nine studio albums so far. This event can bring the perfect harmony to your Saturday night.

15. Fight Night 2017


Where: Palestra, 235 South 33rd St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 6:00 PM.

This annual charity event really packs a punch. In its 13th year, this amateur event puts a few Wharton Boxing fighters against Penn Law School opponents. Proceeds from this event go to the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia. After the thousands of spectators have left the arena, there will be an after party featuring  hip-hop act Yung Joc.

16. Colors: R&B Only


Where: TLA, 334 South St.
When: Saturday, March 25th, 8:00 PM.

This traveling DJ crew takes over the Theater of the Living Arts this Saturday. Supreme the DJ will be spinning some of the best in music at this R&B only event. There will be bangers representing several decades,  from 90s throwbacks to the contemporary hits, this event will have something for every flavor R&B has to offer. Come out in your best dressed to hear everything from Bell Biv Devoe to Usher.

17. 2017 Philadelphia Love Run Half Marathon


Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Sunday, March 26th, 7:30 AM.

Philadelphia’s kickoff and premier Spring marathon will take place this Sunday. If you have a love of running and can’t wait to scurry through several streets of this historic city, then this event is for you. Thousands will be assembled to race  through Center City this weekend  and take in the amazing sights and sounds of this wondrous city.

18. Keisha Hutchins: Going Home


Where: International House, 3701 Chestnut St.
When: Sunday, March 26th, 7:00 PM.

This Sunday a creative cultural music collective will be on full display at International House. Vocalist and singer-songwriter Keisha Hutchins will be joined by several guest artists for a concert that fuses jazz, soul, folk, and more. Going Home outlines and examines the Black experience in America and highlights and translates it through the expressive platform of music.

19. Be Be Rexha


Where: Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St.
When: Sunday, March 26th, 7:00 PM.

Fresh and up-and-coming pop act Bebe Rexha takes over the Underground Arts stage Sunday night. Years ago Rexha was penning the track “Monster” for musical stars Rihanna and Eminem, these days she’s surging up the Hot 100 chart with the song “I Got You”. Last month she released the EP All Your Fault: Pt. 1. The multiple MTV Europe and Billboard Music Awards nominee will get her chance to show Philadelphia why she’s one of the best new artists in music.
