Jason Peters is going to retire at some point and when he does, Lane Johnson will make the switch over to right tackle, but who is going to be the future right tackle of the Philadelphia Eagles?
Is it going to be somebody on the current roster, a future free agent or one that the Birds draft either this weekend or in the years to come. If the Eagles decide to select a tackle this year, it’ll be in the middle-to-late rounds and someone that they can develop. Halapoulivaati Vaitai showed some promise as a fifth-round rookie last year after struggling mightily in his NFL debut against Ryan Kerrigan and the Washington Redskins.
The guy that I would be looking at in the middle rounds if I was the Eagles is Bucknell’s Julie’n Davenport, who is very, very raw but possesses the physical traits. He’s someone that you can coach up for a few years before Peters steps aside and it’s time for Philadelphia to make the change at right tackle.
OUR TOP 5 TACKLES
1. Cam Robinson (Bama)
2. Ryan Ramczyk (Wis)
3. Garrett Boles (Utah)
4. Dion Dawkins (TU)
