Today, ladies and gentlemen, I woke up a champion. I’ve always wanted to type that. Yesterday, the 76ers held an all-out media game that featured four teams split up, a three-point contest and a game of knockout that Sixers CEO Scott O’neil won for the second straight year (I’m told … I wasn’t there last year.)
My squad was deep. Alex Holley, Quincy Harris and his DJ from The Q Show, DJ Malcgeez [one of the smartest men out there, by the way], Marc Lamont Hill, CSN’s Barrett Brooks and from the Sixers, Charlie Widdoes, who had skills, and the aforementioned O’Neil, who legit had one of the nicest moves on the day – an up-and-under the hoop layup. That boy good!
It was a great time to be out at the new Sixers’ practice facility, that place is nuts. Multiple courts, super modern feel throughout and it is HUGE. Sixers’ PA Matt Cord handled announcing duties, so the energy was always there! To get the party started, O’Neil spoke for a quick minute and was honest with addressing the Sixers’ luck as of late.
The games were tight: first ones to 7 won and my squad was led by Hill and O’Neil, although everybody played their part! Big Brooks stuffed the stat sheet and Widdoes held it down, as well. Below is a few pics and videos from the day, and I’m sure the Sixers will be putting out some footage as well.
Fun times and damn it feels good to be a CHAMPION!
Big thank you to @LTWPhilly & @ScottONeil for inviting us down to the Sixers Media Game today. Had a blast! pic.twitter.com/4RbOb5iCYl
