Apparently the Eagles Weren’t Thrilled About Carson Wentz Visiting Quarterback Gurus This Offseason, I Call BS!

I’m suspicious, this seems like a clickbait troll job.

Marcus Hayes’ latest post about the Philadelphia Eagles “not being thrilled” their star second-year quarterback Carson Wentz hired the quarterback gurus at 3DQB in Los Angeles during the offseason seems too overdramatic.

Here’s a portion from Hayes’ post.

Usually mild-mannered, Pederson didn’t hide his disdain for having strangers tinker with his meal ticket, and that is remarkable. Pederson is as emotive as a turtle.

It got better. Pederson virtually sneered when he was specifically asked if Wentz had made improvements in his mechanics:

“It’s subtle. That’s the thing. We’re going to see it as coaches. You may not see it as a spectator watching the game. It’s just, pointing his toe, getting him on his target line, things that we talk about each and every day that coach DeFilippo does a good job with. And those are the things we continue to work on.”

Translation:

Stay away from my ride.

There isn’t an iota of malice in Wentz’s North Dakota soul, but intentional or not, seeking outside help was a slap in the face. Pederson and offensive coordinator Frank Reich, both former NFL quarterbacks, were hired in 2016 for their QB expertise. Quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo is the hottest coach on the staff.

Sneered.

Disdain.

C’mon Marcus.

According to Howard Eskin, Doug Pederson had “no problem” with Wentz going to work with some quarterback coaches while he was at the owner’s meetings.

And there are these too.

Eskin or Hayes, who to believe?!

I’ll take Eskin’s side on this one.

Wentz isn’t the only star quarterback that’s visited 3DQB. Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan are just a few that have enlisted their services in the past too. The reputation is there. Wentz’s release did seem quicker yesterday, an improvement from the elongated windup he had last year. I don’t think this was a big deal. And even if it was, it’ll pass quickly.
