Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek are captains of their teams right now in the IIHF World Championships of Canada and the Czech Republic, respectively.
Radko Gudas is also playing in the World Championships alongside Voracek. Brayden Schenn, Travis Konecny and Wayne Simmonds are on the opposite side, playing next to Giroux.

The two teams were set to face each other today in the opening game for both, but they weren’t all exactly going to get along and play nicely together. And that showed itself during a skirmish in the first period.

Gudas seems to be confronting Nathan MacKinnon when another member of Canada appears to want to confront Gudas. That player was Claude Giroux. And Gudas didn’t have any problem letting Giroux say hello to his glove, because he punched him right in the face.

There’s a chance Gudas wasn’t even paying attention to who was coming at him through his peripherals. But, it could have also been retaliation for this:
