Remember when Bob Brookover wrote that terrible column about Markelle Fultz? He started the freakin’ thing off by saying, “I confess that I have never seen Markelle Fultz play a basketball game.”
How does someone give a take on anything if they never saw the man play a minute?
First, let’s start there. How are you getting paid to give your opinion “in the biz” and don’t make it a priority to catch the potential number 1 pick in a game? Even before the Sixers traded for the first pick? If you take your job seriously, wouldn’t you find a way to do so? I don’t mean to come off as a hardo, but there are zero excuses for “Brooky.”
The good news, the future Sixers’ No. 1 pick had a chance to respond to Brookover’s terrible take and Fultz’s reaction is exactly what the Inquirer‘s column deserves.

The boys over at Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take had the chance to ask Fultz a few questions on their podcast and simply read Brookover’s first line and asked Fultz what he thought about it. Fultz, in a relaxed manner, essentially asked Bob if he did any research? The full podcast is listed here.
However, the chunk we care about is in the video below. They asked Fultz what it’s like to be a loser in eyes of people who don’t watch bball.

In closing, I’m very happy to hear Fultz laugh about this. Brookover wrote a garbage piece and got crushed for it. The problem is that when you give such a lazy take and double down on it, the media as a whole takes a hit. I don’t mean to overstate things, but if a guy is getting paid to give his opinion on a No. 1 pick and refuses to do research, maybe that guy needs to be replaced. He seems bored.
Just my two cents.

So very true.. great comments.. that was just lazy reporting trying to stir things up.. no one know how good any of these kids will be but to write that article was irresponsible.
