Today was a banner day for Sixers fans.
On Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Sixers and Celtics were nearing a potential deal, involving the Sixers’ third overall pick in the draft among other future picks, for the Celtics’ first overall pick in this week’s NBA Draft. Nothing was made official Friday, but today, Markelle Fultz – the clear-cut number one pick in the draft – visited the Sixers to work out for the team.

According to Woj, discussions between the two teams “have centered on Sixers sending 2017 No. 3, 2018 Lakers pick, and possibly 2021 1st — including complicated protections.”
And after Fultz’s workout with the Sixers tonight, a trade is now imminent. According to David Aldridge, it’ll be made official on Monday.

Woj confirmed it minutes later.
Sixers needed Fultz workout/meeting to complete deal w/ Celtics and, as expected, sides have deal for No. 1 pick. Trade call planned Monday.

Fultz wouldn't have gone into workout with No. 3 without assurance trade was agreed upon. Sides have been locked into deal for 24 hours. https://t.co/IiWBLU8A6z

Lakers had interest in pursuing a deal for No. 1 pick/Fultz, but Sixers ability to potentially deliver 3 FRP's in deal too much to overcome. https://t.co/9aBUwqVMiq

UPDATE: And now, Woj is reporting that the Sixers will send Boston their third overall pick, next year’s first-rounder from LA and 2019’s first-rounder from Sacramento with protections.
The Sixers still keep their own picks.
Sources: For top pick, Sixers planning to send Celtics '17 No. 3 overall pick, '18 FRP (via LA) and '19 FRP (via Kings) – w/ protections.

Clarification on deal: Besides its 2017 FRP, Philly sends '18 Lakers pick w/ protections. If it doesn't convey, 76ers send 2019 Kings pick.

The 2018 Lakers pick to BOS has protections on top and bottom that could keep it in Philly, and if so, then 2019 Kings' pick goes to Boston. https://t.co/l38PneUMdh

Derek Bodner also with the update.
Celtics will get Lakers pick if it falls between 2 and 5 in the 2018 draft, per league source. If not, the Celtics will get the Kings in '19

It’s happening, folks. Markelle Fultz is going to be a Philadelphia 76er. And just like that, basketball in Philly is back.
