It’s about time. Although the reasoning is that Howie Kendrick is headed to the disabled list, it’s pretty exciting that the Phillies have called up Nick Williams, according to multiple reports, who will be in New York tonight for the opening game of a series against the Mets.
Williams has hit 15 home runs and knocked in 44 RBIs so far this season with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, along with smacking 16 doubles. He’s hitting .280 with an OBP of .328 and a slugging percentage of .511.
It’ll be exciting to watch one of the higher touted outfield prospects now get a chance to show what he can do in the big leagues.
UPDATE: And here’s Todd Zolecki to rain on our parade.
Regarding Nick Williams' promotion: might only be a few days. Not necessarily a long term thing.
