What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: June 2-4

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. 1. Wizard World Comic Con


Where: Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch St.
When: Thursday, June 1st-Sunday, June 4th

The Wizard World Comic Con slams into Philadelphia this weekend. There will be everything from music, demos, comic book legends, and more. The celebrity lineup includes Chuck Norris, Paul Bettany, John Cusack, Fame Janssen, Gene Simmons, Billie Piper, The Riverdale cast, and more at this pop culture and entertainment mega fest.

2. Philadelphia Beer Week Continues


Where: Various locations
When: Thursday, June 1st-Sunday, June 11th

Philadelphia Beer Week begins this Thursday and lasts through the following Sunday. This ten-day festival will have beer labs at the Franklin Institute, beer relays at some locations, several beer garden pop ups, BBQs and luaus, and many more fun activities throughout the city.

3. Philadelphia International Tango Festival


Where: The German Society, 611 Spring Garden St.
When: Thursday, June 1st-Sunday, June 4th

The 7th Annual Philadelphia International Tango Festival kicks off this Thursday. This fantastic festival will feature four days and nights of tango at The German Society. There will be instructional classes, DJs, food, clothing vendors, live musical performances, and more.

4. Motown The Musical


Where: Academy of Music, 240 s. Broad St.
When: Runs daily through Sunday, June 11th

Motown The Musical tells the story of Berry Gordy Jr. and his iconic rise as a groundbreaking figure in the musical landscape. Gordy was the machine behind Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, and many others. Come see this entertaining musical that unfolds the narrative of this great time in music in a beautiful way.

5. Philadelphia Latino Film Festival


Where: Various locations
When: Friday, June 2nd-Sunday, June 4th

The Philadelphia Latino Film Festival (PHLAFF) is returning for the sixth year in a row. This diverse film showcase will display the masterful work from many Latin American and Latino filmmakers. Movies will be shown from every genre. There will be screenings, meet and greets, Q&As and more. The festival will also include several actors and producers.

6. Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show


Where: Rittenhouse Square, 18th and Walnut St.
When: Friday, June 2nd-Sunday, June 4th

It’s the 90th year of the Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show which makes it the country’s oldest and earliest outdoor art show. Rittenhouse Square will be immersed with vibrant art artist, busy vendors, and beautiful pieces from each medium. Come and take it this artistic treasure.

7. Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds

Where: The Mann Center, 5201 Parkside Ave.
When: Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 2rd, 7:30PM

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will be taking over The Mann Center for two shows this weekend. The Dave Matthews Band and TR3 comprised duo have released three studio albums throughout the years. They will be serenading the amphitheater crowd with some great and fantastic music during each day.

8. Banks


Where: Electric Factory, 421 7th St.
When: Friday, June 2nd, 7PM

Alternative pop act Banks is the owner of two critically acclaimed albums Goddess and The Altar. She will be the main attraction at The Electric Factory this Friday. The “Beggin for Thread” act will be a sight to see as she sings some of her new tracks and her old ones.

9. Black Thought Presents Delirious Featuring J.B. Smoove


Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, June 2nd, 8PM & 10:15PM

J.B. Smoove has been a familiar face in the comedic landscape for years. Smoove has done hilarious work in television shows such as “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, “The Chris Rock Show”, and more. He’s also made several appearances in several films and has headlined many comedic tours. This will be a gust busting night at Punch Line Philly.

10. Fete Day on Elfreth’s Alley


Where: Elfreth’s Alley, 124 Elfreth’s Alley.
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 1PM-5PM

This Saturday many of homes in this historic area will go full 18th century. Elfreth’s Alley’s Annual Fete Day will be this Saturday and it will transform this very antique and rustic revolutionary street. There will be free guided tours, historic reenactments, indoor tours, a parade, and more.

11. Eagles Junior Pro Day


Where: Nova Care Complex, 2 Novacare Way.
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 10AM-3:30PM

The Eagles Junior Pro Day is this Saturday offering families and little ones a unique football experience they’ll treasure forever. Kids will be able to run through positional drills, meet some current and former Eagles players, hang out with Swoop, and partake and several other activities.

12. West Philly Porchfest


Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 12PM-7PM

The West Philly Porchfest is collective and memorable music experience. More than 30 porches will be featured in this neighborhood music festival. This impressive and original concert series will provide a special and interesting spark to your Saturday evening. Go from porch to porch to hear several of the best musicians in the area.

13. The West Chester Craft Beer & Restaurant Stroll


Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 12PM-6PM

This Saturday West Chester will be hosting The West Chester Craft Beer & Restaurant Stroll. Over a dozen restaurants and bars will have craft beer samples, food, specialty beverages, and many other menu options. There will be several discounted drink specials and choices at this celebratory festival.

14. Beer Under The Big Top


Where: The Navy Yard, 5100 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 12:30PM

The Philadelphia Navy Yard’s 9th Annual beer expo is this Saturday. The Beer Under The Big Top is a creative circus themed beer festival. The massive grounds will have over 150 beers displayed for sampling. There will also be carnival games, sideshow attractions, stilt walkers, and more.

15. Roots Picnic


Where: Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing, 601 N. Columbus Blvd.
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 12PM

The 10th Annual Roots Picnic will be filling the outdoor stage of the Festival Pier with beautiful music this Saturday.  Acts Jeezy, Pharrell, 21 Savage, Solange, Thundercat, and many others will be the hitting the main stage at this musically invigorating and exciting event.

16. Thomas Rhett


Where: BB&T Pavillion, 1 Harbor Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 7PM

Nashville country star and “Die a Happy Man” singer Thomas Rhett will be bringing his newest tour to the BB&T Pavillon this Saturday night. The Grammy and CMT Music Awards nominee will be putting on a fantastic show for his revved fans at this beautiful and waterfront soundstage.

17. The Chainsmokers


Where: The Liacouras Center, 1776 N. Broad St.
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 6:30 PM

Fresh off their Grammy wins earlier this year, The Chainsmokers will be bringing their show to collegiate grounds this Saturday. In April, they released Memories…Do Not Open after their great success with previous tracks “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Closer.” The EDM and pop duo will not disappoint.

18. Museum Sundays


Where: The Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy and  The Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Sunday, June 4th, 10AM-5PM

This Sunday is the first Sunday of June. Just like every first Sunday of each month, its pay-what-you-wish at The Philadelphia Museum of Art and free admission at The Barnes Foundation. Please take the time to stop at either of these great cultural and artistic jewels in the city.

19. Irish American Festival


Where: Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing, 601 N. Columbus Blvd.

When: Sunday, June 4th, 1PM-7PM

PECO Multicultural Series Irish American Festival is this Sunday. This annual event will have two music stages, dancing, bagpipe performers, and many more cultural celebrations. There will be plenty food and beverage vendors selling traditional and tasty treats.

20. La Festa: Italian National Day Festival


Where: Filitalia International Immigration Museum, 1834 E. Passyunk Ave.
When: Sunday, June 4th, 11 AM-7PM

East Passyunk Avenue welcomes the entire city to celebrate La Festa della Republicca this Sunday. This rain or shine event will have food tucks, homemade water ice and limoncello, games, activities, DJs, live music, and other Italian themed cuisine.
