Here’s the play in question.
With the Philadelphia Eagles possessing a 7-0 lead past the midway of the first quarter and sustaining all the momentum, head coach Doug Pederson elected to call a run-pass option, which was run poorly by Nelson Agholor and resulted into a backwards pass and a turnover.

Pederson defended the play call during his press conference Monday.
It was a run, a design run, and then that was just an advantage throw. It looked on film, Nelson was a little bit deeper than he should have been, obviously, because it was a lateral. But in practice during the week, that was never the case. So we’ve just got to clean those things up.
Clean it up indeed!
