The Eagles are 7-1 and soaring high right now. They’ve got one more tilt with the Denver Broncos before their bye week, followed by a Sunday night showdown with the Dallas Cowboys.
But now, there’s a distinct possibility that defensive end Fletcher Cox may not see one of those games. That’s because the NFL is reviewing a play in which Cox is being blamed for breaking the orbital bone of the 49ers’ Joe Staley.

Here’s the play in question, in which there were no replays of on the FOX broadcast:

After the interception, you can see Cox in the lower part of the screen raise his arms up after the alleged “cheap shot” on the ensuing touchdown return. That raises a red flag, and a lot of people in San Francisco paid close attention to it.
No one was certain how Staley got a bloody gash under his right eye. One fellow lineman, however, accused foul play by Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who is seen on a video replay lifting his arms in the air as if to plead innocence while Staley withered on the ground in pain.
Without a conclusive replay, it’s hard to tell what exactly Cox did. But it’s being looked at by the league, so stay tuned.
