The Eagles Have Signed Alshon Jeffery to a Four-Year Deal

The Eagles have signed Alshon Jeffrey to a four-year deal, according to Adam Schefter.

The team confirmed the signing minutes later.

The deal will pay Jeffery $13 million per season after this year with $6.75 million guaranteed per season. That’s good enough for sixth highest-paid wide receiver in the league. And something tells me we haven’t exactly seen the best of Jeffery at this point. Not just yet.

Jeffery currently has 43 receptions on the season for 619 yards and seven touchdowns. The narrative in the offseason was he turned down more money from the Minnesota Vikings to come to Philadelphia and play with Carson Wentz, and he’s really thrived these past few games. It’s been a great fit for the offense even though there were questions marks there, especially when Jordan Matthews was traded before the season.

Even though Zach Ertz has really shown to be Wentz’s security blanket this season, maintaining that chemistry with Jeffery, even through 11 games, was important to Howie Roseman and co., clearly. Jeffery’s in his prime, and Wentz is just getting started. While Jeffery may not be at the top of the league in WR stats, he brings a certain dynamic to this offense that has clearly worked so far this season.

I’m really looking forward as to how this duo performs in the coming years.

In a team statement, the Eagles said, “Alshon has been a tremendous addition to this organization on and off the field. We place a priority on making sure we are able to build the team around quality players like Alshon who embrace this team and this city the way he has. We are excited about his future here.”

Wentz also added, “I think we can just keep getting better. At the end of the day, Alshon is kind of every week. First of all, he’s unselfish. Second of all, even on the weeks he’s not getting the ball, he’s drawing attention, drawing the best corner and clouding safeties. With Alshon and (running back Jay Ajayi) now, and the way we can spread the ball around, I think that will make us even more dynamic moving forward.”

Wentz is pumped.

According to Jason La Canfora, Roseman is also working on extending DE Brandon Graham. We heard rumors that the Eagles were looking to re-sign someone before the end of the year, but it may prove to be more than just one player.

More coming.
