ESPN’s Field Yates reported that Kendricks was cut with a post June 1 designation, meaning the Eagles will receive $6 million in cap space instead of the $4.4 million had Kendricks was released sooner.

Les Bowen interacted with Kendricks earlier in the day and didn’t seem to notice anything was about to go down.
Really strange move, on the day Paul Worrilow leaves the field on a cart. I saw Mychal leaving NovaCare in shorts and sandals before today's OTAs, said hi to him, assumed he wasn't practicing because of offseason knee surgery. https://t.co/2U62YeOelX

Rumors have been going on for years regarding the Eagles either trading or releasing the linebacker. And, according to Emmanuel Acho, Kendricks isn’t miffed.
Just talked to my guy Mychal Kendricks, safe to say he’s not upset… details of convo coming soon. #Eagles

Adrian checks in:
Kendicks' release tells me a lot of what the Eagles think of Corey Nelson. Interesting that they'd make this move on a day when Paul Worrilow injured his knee. Also surprised Eagles weren't able to to work out a trade for Kendricks.

Eagles did a great job of utilizing Kendricks' strengths last year when his snaps were limited, blitzing A gap and ranging sideline to sideline. Schwartz doesn't blitz LBs much though. When Hicks got hurt and snaps increased, weaknesses like coverage ability were exposed.
