Carson Wentz takes another huge step in his rehab

Carson Wentz took yet another vital step forward in Training Camp Thursday as he continues his rehab from a torn ACL and MCL. After being cleared Wednesday, Wentz participated in full non-contact team drills Thursday, which included some 11-on-11s.

All that’s left now is clearance for game action.

We’ll see how the Eagles manage his workload because it increased incrementally during OTAs, beginning with him participating in individual drills before getting reps in 2-on-2 drills and finally by taking part in 7-on-7s. Wentz stated that this was all part of the plan for the summer.

“That was kind of the plan that we put in place throughout the summer, just build to that. I was excited just to be out there today and run around with the guys … mentally, I feel like I’ve been getting through it really well.”

Pederson explained that Wentz will continue to get sprinkled into the 11-on-11s, but will remain cautious.

“We’re going to continue to monitor his progress obviously day by day and go off of how he feels. We’ll continue to sprinkle him in from time to time … I’m not going to push him or get him out there sooner than he has to. I want to make sure that he’s 100 percent. He looked good today, and we’re just going to continue to progress.”

That Week 1 opener against Atlanta is six weeks away, will Wentz be ready to start by then?

“I don’t need to decide right now, two weeks from now, three weeks from now. I’m going to let things unfold and I’m going to trust the medical staff. I’m going to listen to Carson. I’m going to see how we do in practice, and we’ll make a decision when we get to that point.”

Fair enough.

At least Wentz was able to get his workouts in during his recent honeymoon.
