The Flyers have found their new general manager.
Sam Carchidi broke the story on Monday morning on philly.com.
He wrote:
“Every general manager has his own take “on how it should be run,” the Flyers executive said. “For me, and I think Chuck has done the same, I think it’s how you treat your people, so everybody is included as to what’s going on. The people who work for you have to know you trust them and want their opinions and care about them — and it will be returned every time. Chuck will have that.”
As I wrote this morning, Fletcher has a long history of success and is fearless when it comes to signing free agents, and his connection with Joel Quenneville is also noteworthy. These factors made him an appealing candidate to Paul Holmgren and co.
Bill Zito, despite being passed over for the role, is still in contention for the assistant general manager position with the Flyers.
The Flyers have yet to confirm the hiring. From there it only be a matter of time before Fletcher makes his mark on the organization.
