The 2018 Philadelphia Eagles: Too little, too late

First, I have to say I’ve got nothing but credit and praise for the Birds as they once again went to Los Angeles and came away with a victory to keep the season alive. Going into the game as a double-digit underdog, they flat-out BALLED last night. Doug Pederson called a great game, Nick Foles took chances and the defense played like warriors again!

However, even after last night’s season-saving W, we must now look at what we have. Unfortunately – to me – it’s not looking good. Two teams really stand in the way of the Birds and the playoffs – the Cowboys and Vikings. Sure, the Panthers are ahead but they have the Saints twice in the final three weeks and Cam Newton is the very definition of “leaking oil.”

If the Cowboys win either of their next two against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants, they lock up the NFC East. My guess is Dallas will do just that. We had our chance two weeks ago.

Moving over to the 6th and final Wild Card spot that’s currently occupied by the Vikings, again, we had our chance. Minnesota has two games left (at Detroit next week and then hosting the Chicago Bears in Week 17.) If they win both games, they’re in. Can they? Sure. Will they? Ugh.

Finally, let’s bring the focus back to the Eagles and ask this question: Can they win the next two games vs. the Texans at home and a trip to D.C. to take on Washington? My answer? Well, if Nick Foles plays like he did last night, I don’t see why this team can’t finish with nine wins. That is by no means a shot at Wentz! Last night, the offense had a magical feeling behind it. It’s okay to admit it. Last night felt like the beginning of the run to the Super Bowl all over again!

No matter what your thoughts are, there are plenty of games and plenty of drama-filled decisions that are needed by the Eagles front office this week and I cannot wait to see how it plays out. If Wentz is healthy, do you go back to him? Something tells me Dougie P. won’t be thrilled to answer these questions this week, but he should be thrilled that there’s games of meaning left to be played.

My take: Stick with Foles, allow Wentz to get healthy and see what happens this week against Houston.
