I joined Thursday’s Daily Ticket with Sean Brace on Fox Sports The Gambler to break down the massive UFC 251 card set to take place on Fight Island. We discuss the odds movement on the main event, all three title fights, plus my latest edition of the Futures Faceoff series.
The first-ever event at Fight Island debuts Saturday night and the main event features current welterweight champion Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal. Usman opened as -290 favorite and we have seen some early movement on the fan-favorite Masvidal. I reveal the stylistic mismatches, Usman’s biggest advantage, and Masvidal’s history of facing the type of fighter that awaits him in Usman. I explain the line was set correctly making Masvidal a big underdog, and discuss a way to shorten the odds. We touch on the other two title fights and the biggest underdog on the entire card in Paige Van Zant.
This week’s Futures Faceoff pits two second-year coaches coming off five-win seasons against each other in Kliff Kingsbury and Brian Flores. We discuss the hype surrounding the Cardinals this season and why I feel the Dolphins did a better job in addressing their team needs.
