The Philadelphia Eagles defense got even scarier on Wednesday with veteran defensive end Robert Quinn becoming the newest weapon in Jonathan Gannon’s defense.
Quinn joined the Eagles via a trade with the Chicago Bears prior to November 1’s NFL Trade Deadline. In exchange, the Bears received the Eagles’ fourth-round draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Eagles released defensive end Tarron Jackson in order to make room for Quinn on the roster.
A 12-year NFL veteran, Quinn recorded 18.5 sacks with the Bears in 2021, which is the second-most in a single season for his career. He was drafted No. 14 overall by the St. Louis Rams in 2011, earning two Pro Bowl selections in St. Louis before eventually playing with both the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys.
Quinn was a standout defender at the University of North Carolina and currently has 102 sacks in 163 career NFL games played. His career-high in sacks was 19 with the Rams in 2013, where he also recorded a league-best 23 tackles for loss, 34 pressures, and seven forced fumbles.
The Eagles are 6-0 heading into a Week 8 showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers at Lincoln Financial Field.
