Shawn Michaels lost his smile, and hurt his knee, in February 1997.
Stone Cold Steve Austin illegally eliminated three guys in the 1997 Royal Rumble at the Alamodome.
All of this led to WWF In Your House: Final Four as Austin, Bret Hart, Undertaker, and Vader faced off in a four-way elimination match for the WWF Championship. Bret Hart actually quit the company but came back conveniently at the end of an episode of Monday Night Raw to unquit. He originally agreed to this match when the championship wasn’t even on the line, so Hart had to be pretty down bad to just unquit an hour after he quit.
We talk about it all on this week’s episode of the podcast.
