Nick Sirianni relishing latest opportunity to work with Jalen Hurts

In the modern-day NFL, not many head coaches and quarterbacks are fortunate to work together for multiple years, but the Philadelphia Eagles are one of those rare exclusions.

Head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts are heading into their fourth year working alongside one another as the Eagles prepare for the 2024 season. Sirianni has registered a 34-17 record during his three seasons as head coach, leading the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance in 2023.

Hurts heads into his fifth professional season and fourth as a starter in the NFL. The former University of Alabama and Oklahoma product has totaled 108 combined touchdowns compared to only 31 interceptions, logging over 10,000 passing yards and a 63.4% completing percentage.

Despite the Eagles taking a step back record-wise in 2024, expectations are high, especially with Hurts teaming up with several playmakers including AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and offseason signing Saquon Barkley.

If Hurts can continue being a playmaker with his arm and legs, the Eagles will be favored to win the NFC this season, and Sirianni is excited to watch the 25-year-old under center again this fall.

“Yeah, I’ve been fortunate to be with Jalen now coming on my fourth year,” Sirianni told reporters. “I think he has tremendous energy, tremendous work ethic. You know, just like all of us, everything that he feels like he can continue to work with on, he will do. This is a guy that obviously has brought us tremendous success since he’s been our starting quarterback, has played a tremendously high level. I have tremendous confidence in him that whatever he has to do to continue being an MVP candidate, he will do.

“We’ve done some pretty special things and I’m really excited for him. He’s worked so hard at his game.”

The Eagles will rely heavily on Hurts’ playmaking abilities, starting with a Week 1 showdown against the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I feel the defensive secondary. Let the Eagles down last season. No matter how many touchdowns the Eagles would score the defense would give up another one right after. So let’s hope that part of the Game is improved.
