The United States’ Men’s National Team defeated Paraguay, 1-0, on Saturday night at Lincoln Financial Field. After losing their first match, the U.S. has won their last two, which advances them to the knockout stage.
What might be an even bigger story is that the match Saturday night netted over 50,000 fans at The Linc. That’s pretty incredible. Yes, it’s the national men’s soccer team, but it’s still incredible, nonetheless. I’m not sure the Phillies have had 50,000 fans in the stands combined all season so far. Remember when Citizens Bank Park used to be sold out daily? Those were the days.
But the U.S. winning in Philly with that many people in The Linc is certainly something to be proud of. And the Union are having a great season and are in first place in the Eastern Conference with 23 points, four more than New York and Montreal.

Soccer is alive and well.
The next U.S. game is in Seattle on Thursday at 9:30 P.M. against Ecuador and it will air live on FOX Sports 1, UniMas, and UDN.
