The Philadelphia Eagles’ voice and one of the defense are heading into the Hall of Fame.
Longtime radio announcer Merrill Reese and linebacker Jeremiah Trotter will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame on November 28th when the Eagles play the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
Reese is entering his 40th season as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Birds and is the longest tenured announcer in the NFL.
“When you think about some of the greatest moments in Eagles history, you can hear Merrill’s voice, living and dying with every play, just like we all do,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a release. “What makes him so special, and so engrained in the fabric of our franchise, is how dedicated he is to the team, the fans and his job. Merrill is a legend, and he is the absolute best at what he does.”
Reese commented on the honor via his Twitter account.
Being named to the Eagles Hall of Fame is an incredible honor. Broadcasting to such knowledgable, loyal, and passionate fans is so special.

Trotter spent eight of his 11 seasons with the Eagles, notching a pair of All-Pro selections and four Pro Bowl appearances over three separate stints with the team. The “Axe Man” posted five 150-tackle seasons with Philadelphia, including 202 during his first full year as a starter in 1999. He helped guide the team to three NFC East titles and five playoff appearances, including a pair of NFC Championship games and a trip to Super Bowl XXXIX.
“Jeremiah Trotter embodies everything we strive for as an organization,” Lurie said. “He was an emotional and inspirational player who captured the hearts of our fans. As an anchor of our defense, he led with an immeasurable amount of toughness and a fiery attitude.”
Congratulations to both, well deserved!
