1. Philadelphia Film Festival

When: Friday, October 21st (screenings begin) through October 30th, times vary
The 25th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival begins this weekend. The best in international and nationwide feature films, documentaries, and other medias are on display through this ten-day event. There will be daily screenings, Q&A sessions for some films, and several appearances. Come see a glimpse of the what’s to come in this award season and the emerging filmmakers and actors on the horizon.

2. Harry Potter Festival Weekend
Where: College of Chestnut Hill, 16 E Highland Ave.
When: Friday, October 21st – Sunday, October 23rd, various times
The Harry Potter Festival takes over Chestnut Hill this weekend. In honor of the global best-selling book series and hit films, the celebration will have many events honoring the famed enterprise. There will be a pub crawl, art galleries, a Quidditch tournament, several Harry Potter themed classes, and more. This lively two-day blowout will bring the images and magical scripted words to life and provide true fans with an experience like no other.

3. Philadelphia Clips and Beer Film Tour
Where: 23rd St Armory, 22 S 23rd St.
When: Friday, October 21st , 7PM (doors open) 10PM (films begin)
This is the seventh year of the Philadelphia Clips Beer and Film Tour. This travelling beer and movie showcase has come to 16 cities across the country. There will be up to 18 different varieties of beer and several short films to be showcased for the audience. This is a free-to-enter event with 100% of the proceeds from the beer and vendor sales going to the local Neighborhood Bike Works.

4. Sia Nostalgic Tour feat Miguel
Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 s Broad St.
When: Friday, October 21st , 7PM
Award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Sia Furler brings her “Nostalgic for the Present Tour” to the Wells Fargo Center this Friday. The tour supports her seventh studio album This Is Acting. The tour’s opening acts are R&B Grammy award-winner Miguel and UK act AlunaGeorge. Known for her signature sound and vivid artistry, this will be a concert full of hits from multiple acts and a vibrant show that only Sia can deliver.

5. Rocky Horror Picture 40th Anniversary Screening
Where: Keswick Theater, 291 N Keswick Ave. Glenside, PA
When: Friday, October 21st , 7:30PM
Keswick Theater will screen the 40th Anniversary Edition of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The party, with Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors from the film), will include a post-film discussion that will give in-depth and behind-the-scenes stories about how this cult and horror themed classic came to be. Tickets range between $40-$125.

6. Midnight Madness: Halloween Screening
Where: Ritz at The Bourse, 400 Ranstead St.
When: Friday, October 21st, 12AM
Every Friday, the Ritz at the Bourse has Midnight Madness screenings. The series will show the John Carpenter classic Halloween this week. This famous horror film and masterpiece, centers around Michael Myers. It tells the story of an escaped killer mental patient who stalks the streets of Haddonfield, Illinois. This film is a thrilling, shocking, and fantastic way to start your weekend.

7. Twilight In the Gardens
Where: Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, 1020 South St.
When: Friday, October 21st , 7PM-10PM
Philadelphia Magic Gardens provides this multi-sensory event to the masses yet again. There will a performance by folk duo Kayla & Karns and a Diddley Bow Making with BridgeSet art station. This is a picnic style creative and imaginative gathering where guests can bring food and beverages from soda to booze. Come enjoy the live music, tour the various artistic areas, and take in breathtaking mosaics.

8. Barnes Foundation: Live and Life Will Give You Pictures Party
Where: Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Friday, October 21st, 7PM-10PM
Friday night is Young Professionals Nights at The Barnes Foundation. The event celebrates the masters of French photography and is motivated by the Live and Life Will Give You Pictures exhibit. The black-and-white themed gala is a turn and nostalgic throwback to definitive moments. Guests are asked to show up wearing black or white. There will be cocktails, music, and more. Tickets are $30

9. Mural Arts Month: South Trolley Tour & Mural Dedications
Where: Trolley Tour (PAFA) 128 N Broad St. Eddie Lang 7th & Fitzwater St.
When: Trolley Tour Saturday, October 22nd 10AM, Eddie Lang Sunday, October 23rd 12PM-2PM
Mural Arts Month continues with a Journey South Mural Trolley Tour this Saturday. This two-hour tour takes guests through the streets of South Philadelphia. Passengers will able to view the colorful and artistic splashed walls of several buildings in the area. Tickets are $32 for adults and $28 for seniors, students, and children. Sunday, there will be a mural dedication. The mural celebrates the legacy of Philadelphia musician Eddie Lang and is part of a day long festivities in his honor.

10. 14th Annual Taste of Northeast Philly
Where: Friends of Father Judge, 3301 Solly Ave.
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 7PM-12PM
The 14th Annual Taste of Northeast Philly combines various restaurants, businesses, bars, and several other vendors. For a $40 ticket attendees from the area can partake and chose from dozens of food merchants and local sellers. There will be live music by The Exceptions and plenty of events and activities for all.

11. Franklin Square Pumpkin Patch
Where: Franklin Square, 6th Street & Race Street.
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 12PM-2PM
The entire family is welcome this weekend to the Franklin Square Pumpkin Patch. Each child will be given one pumpkin to decorate and design for free. Children can spend their day getting creative by crafting various Halloween and Autumn themed pumpkins. They’ll be allowed to take them home and enjoy their work soon after. This is a family friendly event that is just in time for the season.

12. Autism Speaks Walk
Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 9AM
This is the world’s largest fundraising event dedicated to raising awareness and supporting the various needs of autism in the public. This walk, along with other contributors, helps generate funding for groundbreaking research, aid from top-quality programs, and provides support for a diverse range of services. The goal is to raise over $640,000 with each walker raising $150. Donations are still being accepted for this walk to help enhance the lives of children and adults living with autism.

13. 10th Annual Paws and Mutt Strut
Where: The Navy Yard, 4747 Broad St.
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 9AM-2PM
The 10th Annual PAWS Mutt Strut takes over the Philadelphia Navy Yard this Saturday. Dogs and their owners walk the beautiful grounds in order to raise funds for PAWS. PAWS is an organization dedicated to the uplifting of Philadelphia’s homeless animals. All entries receive a PAWS bandana and a tote bag. The fee is $25 for this event that will have a great showcase and other activities for pets and their owners.

14. Mid-Century Modern at Cliveden
Where: Cliveden, 6401 Germantown Ave.
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 3PM-8PM
Cliveden House hosts a day of mid-century and modern events. There will be pop up shops that include stores Kitch-N Collectibles, Sugar, and RePast. Each shop has a wide range of collectibles ranging from fine art, kitchen appliances, and home and business antiques. Later in the evening, there will be cocktails, food, board games in the Main House, and classic television in the Carriage House. Tickets range from $5-$35

15. Kensington Beer Gardens Finale
Where: Kensington Community Food Co-Op, 2670 Coral St.
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 5PM-10PM
This Saturday marks the last of a total of five pop up beer gardens in the Kensington Beer Gardens series. The River Wards community presents this event that will have many local craft beers and pours, a fantastic lineup of food trucks, and a guided site tours of community’s future grocery store project. Benefiting the Kensington Community Food Co-Op, this all ages event will have something for all.

16. Philly Open Studios Tours
Where: Various studios throughout the city
When: Saturday, October 22nd & Sunday, October 23rd
Philadelphia Open Studios continues this weekend. The event goes “East” this week and is helmed by the Asian Art Initiative. There will be several creative studios allowing people to walk through their artistic spaces. Guests can see pieces being created, view artwork on display, and tour each area to get an in-depth and personalized view of various participating inspired venues.

17. PHS Pop Up Garden Closing Party
Where: PHS Pop Up Garden, 1438 South St.
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 12PM-10PM
It’s the last PHS Pop Up Garden of the season. The South Street series will have reduced prices on all draft beer, canned beer, wine, and other beverages. There will be fire pits, food vendors, and more at this garden and beer extravaganza. This is your last chance to say goodbye to a favorite event of the summer and embrace the community it brought together.

18. Bar Crawl Nation Halloween: Philadelphia
Where: The Gaslight, 120 Market St.
When: Saturday, October 22nd, 2PM-10PM
This event will unite thousands of partygoers in costume throughout the city. Starting at just $15 for a ticket you’ll get access to this bar crawl that hops from one participating Old City bar to the next. Crawlers will get a free t-shirt, a souvenir beer stein, and exclusive drink specials at each venue. There will be $2,500 in Halloween costume prizes at this entertaining event.

19. Live Jazz in the Piazza
Where: The Schmidt’s Commons, 1001 N. 2nd St.
When: Sunday, October 23rd, 8PM-10PM
The Schmidt’s Commons will host live and rhythmic jazz music from Jazz180 this Saturday night. Vocalist Ericka Andrew’s vocals will be on display at this all-age and free to enter event. Jazz180 is a lively band from the area that covers everything from Coltrane, to Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock,Antonio Carlos Jobim, and more. There will be food and beverage vendors at the concert. Come to this memorable night of this iconic genre of music.

20. Clover Market in Bryn Mawr
Where: 7 N Bryn Mawr Ave.
When: Sunday, October 23rd, 10AM-5PM
This travelling vintage and antique market comes to Bryn Mawr this Sunday. This craft and collectibles market supplies the area with access to several vendors and merchants selling rare and impressive figurines and more. There will be clothing, jewelry, furniture, live music, food trucks, animal shelter rescue, face painting, and several areas for children.

21. The Head and the Heart
Where: The Fillmore, 29 E Allen St.
When: Sunday, October 23rd, 8PM
American indie folk band The Head and The Heart come to The Fillmore this Sunday night. This tour promotes their newest studio album and third release Signs of Light. In June, the six member band released the first single off the project “All We Ever Knew”, a song that went to number one on the Adult Alternative Charts. The band was also featured on the Showtime drama series Roadies. The alternative band provides an eclectic folk sound that meshes genre pushing arrangements and sincere storytelling.
