Chip Kelly might’ve gotten run out of town in Philadelphia, but one thing he did do well, beat the Dallas Cowboys in their own house.
Hopefully Doug Pederson will have the same success.
So let’s take at the Eagles’ last three wins in Big D.
2013: Week 17
Remember when Chip was still in Philly’s good graces?
That was back in 2013 when the Eagles won their last NFC East crown when they beat the Cowboys in a win-or-go home Week 17 showdown 24-22 on Brandon Boykin’s game-sealing interception with 1:49 remaining.
Kyle Orton filled in for Tony Romo, who underwent back surgery two days prior. It was the third straight year the Cowboys had lost a Week 17 game to a division rival with the NFC East on the line.
Nick Foles threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns on 17-of-26 passing for the Eagles, who were the No. 2 offense in the NFL during Kelly’s first season. LeSean McCoy won the NFL’s rushing title and gained 131 yards on 27 carries in this one.
Philadelphia, which won its first division title since 2010 with a 10-6 mark, lost to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Wild Card Round a week later.
2014: Week 13
Kelly was still in Philadelphia’s good graces when the Eagles clashed with the Cowboys on Turkey Day during Week 13 of the 2014 season.
LeSean McCoy gained 159 yards on the ground to go with a touchdown and the Eagles routed Dallas 33-10.
Mark Sanchez made his fourth consecutive start, filling in for the injured Nick Foles, and completed 20-of-29 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles raced out to a 14-0 start after scoring touchdowns on each of their first two drives and never looked back.
Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham each recorded a sack, with the Eagles recording four in all.
Chip started to fall out of favor with the Philadelphia fans shortly thereafter, however, as the Birds dropped three straight, including a crushing 38-27 loss to the Cowboys at home two weeks later as Dallas went on to claim the divisional crown.
2015: Week 9
Chip was temporarily in Philadelphia’s good graces when Sam Bradford fired a 41-yard, game-winning touchdown strike to Jordan Matthews and give the Eagles a 33-27 overtime victory over Dallas.
And who could forget this 67-yard interception return for a touchdown by Jordan Hicks.
DeMarco Murray had 161 total yards, 83 rushing and 78 receiving, in his first game back in Big D after winning the NFL’s rushing title there a year prior.
Remember him?
The win improved the Eagles’ record to 4-4, but they lost their next three games and Kelly was out of a job by season’s end.
