Are you looking for scores, recaps, and highlights all in one place? In The Day After, I will try to give a quick recap of what happened this past weekend in the world of the NFL. All this plus the highlights of all the top plays of the weekend! Let’s get to it, shall we?
Cowboys 17, Vikings 15
The Minnesota defense was on fire in this game, but it still wasn’t enough to cancel out the mediocre ways of Sam Bradford. Bradford had a YPA of 5.49, which qualifies for many Pop Warner charts. As long as Captain Checkdown continues to underwhelm, the Vikings fans will always question the trade that put him in purple.
Chiefs 29, Falcons 28
These teams started the game on fire as they combined for five scores on the first six possessions. Matt Ryan made an uncharacteristic error as he hit Eric Berry in the hands with a pretty spiral. All that was left for Big Red was to run the clock down to seal the game.
Ravens 38, Dolphins 6
The Ravens are back from the dead and steamrolling their way to the playoffs. Joe Flacco showed off his skills once again to help us understand why he is Baltimore’s crown jewel.
Bears 26, 49ers 6
After four exciting weeks that had Colin Kaepernick as a fantasy darling once again, he found himself back on the bench. Even with using the snow and the wind as an excuse, he still played worse than Matt Barkley. The line of the day: “One pass complete for four yards!”
Bengals 32, Eagles 14
The Bengals took their Varsity squad and picked apart their JV counterpart in the Eagles. Marvin Lewis lives to see another day and Doug Pederson is still trying to show if he can lead an NFL team.
Packers 21, Texans 13
The Packers fought through the cold and the snow to mark their territory on a wild card playoff spot. They only scored 21, but it was plenty enough to beat the Texans. Brock Osweiler played well enough to earn 1% of his paycheck and Hopkins caught his 1st TD since October 6th.
Broncos 20, Jaguars 10
Paxton Lynch started his second career game and totaled only 104 yards. Thankfully for him, the Denver defense made the Jacksonville offense look bad. Really bad. Sorry, Gus, it may be back to defense for you just like Spags.
Patriots 26, Rams 10
This game wasn’t as close as it seemed. The Patriots’ offense didn’t overwhelm anyone, but they seem to be developing a new No. 1 wide receiver in Malcom Mitchell. On the flipside, Jared Goff looked like a baby who was stuck in a corn maze and trying to find his way out. Why hasn’t Matt Patricia found a head coaching job yet?
Lions 28, Saints 13
The Lions’ defense is very underrated and Drew Brees was the latest victim to fall. He threw three picks and was constantly trying to squeeze balls into tight coverage. On the other hand, Matthew Stafford impressed once again on his way to his best career as a pro.
Raiders 38, Bills 24
In an ultimate collapse, the Bills were outscored 29-0 after Derek Carr came back from a hand checkup and showed why they are the hottest team in the NFL. He is the front-runner for MVP and Jack Del Rio is definitely in the conversation for Coach of the Year.
Cardinals 31, Redskins 23
The Redskins outgained the Cardinals in yards, but David Johnson proved to be too much to handle. Jordan Reed didn’t play, but the Redskins still remain in good position.
Steelers 24, Giants 14
What happened to the deep passing game for the Steelers? Big Ben has been happy using his bell cow back to carry the passing load. This may be a way to try and protect him. Either way, they keep producing.
Buccaneers 28, Chargers 21
Tampa Bay has been a pleasant surprise this year and their defense held the San Diego offense in check. The Buccaneers won their seventh game, putting them in a tie with the Falcons atop the NFC South. C’mon, who predicted that?
Seahawks 40, Panthers 7
Cam Newton benched for a tie and Earl Thomas III sustained a cracked tibia that will sideline him for the rest of the year. I know people may question it, but I commend Ron Rivera for sticking by his rules. We live in a society where players disrespect coaches because they feel more important. Way to stand up, Ron.
Colts 41, Jets 10
This one wasn’t even close. Did the Jets even show up?
