1. Old City First Fridays
Where: Various locations
When: Friday, August 4th
Every first Friday of each month throughout the year the best studios, galleries, restaurants, and bars Old City has to offer open their doors for amazing events. This Friday the Betsy Ross House will be hosting a movie screening of Earth vs. Spider. There is a $5 admission that gets you a tour of the Betsy Ross House, pre-show excursions, Quizzo, and the film viewing. The event is BYOB.

2. Jazz on the Waterfront
Where: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.
When: Friday, August 4th, 7:30PM
Penn’s Landing Smooth Jazz Summer Concert Series kicks off this weekend. This free weekly event will run from Friday, August 4th through Friday, August 25th. There will be word-renowned jazz and blues talent showcased at this amazing musical event. This Friday Fourplay will be serenading the crowd with some phenomenal jazz tunes.

3. Jurassic World
Where: Dilworth Park, 1 S. 15th St.
When: Friday, August 4th, 8:30PM
Dilworth Park hosts free movies screenings every Friday. This week there will be a showing of Jurassic World. The crazed dinosaur film will wow the crowd at this open-air setting. There will be food for sale from the Dilworth Park Café and vendors. There will also be plenty of beverages. Feel free to bring a blanket and some friends.

4. E.T. at Clark Park
Where: Clark Park, 4300 Baltimore Ave.
When: Friday, August 4th, 8PM
The out-of-this-world film E.T. will be screened at the picturesque location of Clark Park this Friday night. In partnership with University City District, these special free movies showings serve to jolt your Friday nights and bring the community together. There are rotating vendors at this event offering food and drinks.

5. Damien Lemon
Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Thursday, August 3rd-Saturday, August 5th
Damien Lemon will be front and center on the Punch Line Philly stage through the next few days. He was a featured performer on Whitney Cumming’s HBO comedy special, he can be seen on MTV’s Hip Hop Squares and Guy Code, and had film role in The Amazing Spiderman. Come see this great comedic performer through Saturday.

6. Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival
Where: Caplan Studio Theater, 211 S. Broad St.
When: Wednesday, August 2nd-Sunday, August 6th
The Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival will be the lead event at The Caplan Studio Theater at The University of the Arts. A production of the original musical Hear Me War is one of the main attractions of the festival. There will be staged readings, thrilling performances, and more at this female centered and crafted event.

7. Tampa Bay Storm at Philadelphia Soul
Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 Broad St.
When: Saturday, August 5th, 7PM
Don’t let the fact that the NFL preseason kicks off tonight sway you from the fact that the Arena Football League has been entertaining crowds since the Spring. This Saturday, the final game for the Philadelphia Soul will be the main event at the Wells Fargo Center. Football fans from all over will be able to enjoy the one loss team as they get revved up for the playoffs.

8. The Lego Batman Movie Screening
Where: Franklin Square, 6th and Race St.
When: Saturday, August 5th, 7PM
Not to be overshadowed by the previous movie screenings, Franklin Square is offering up something unique and fun for attendees this Saturday night. The downtown park has mini-golf, a carousel, attractions, and so much more. At 7PM your entire group can enjoy The Lego Batman Movie in all its comedic glory.

9. Jam at the Docks
Where: Dockside Bar at Dave & Buster’s, 325 N. Columbus Blvd.
When: Saturday, August 5th, 7PM
Dave and Buster’s can attract plenty of crowds. The entertainment and gaming hotspot will be throwing a Jam at the Docks concert this Saturday night. There will be a lineup of special acts playing within the genres of rock, reggae, and more. There drinks will be flowing all night at this great Columbus Blvd bar.

10. Logic
Where: Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing, 601 N. Columbus Blvd.
When: Saturday, August 5th, 8PM
Rapper, songwriter, and singer Logic will be bringing his headlining The Endless Summer Tour to the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing this Saturday. Logic recently released his critically acclaimed-acclaimed third studio album Everybody this year. G-Eazy, YG, & Yo Gotti are all set to perform as well at this hip hop laced show.

11. Dierks Bentley
Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Saturday, August 5th, 7PM
Continuing the music lineup on this list, country singer Dierks Bentley will be rocking the BB&T Pavilion this Saturday as he continues his What the Hell Tour. The “Come a Little Closer” singer is owner of fifteen number ones of the Billboard Country Music Charts. He’ll have plenty of hits to choose from as he ignites the crowd with his great show.

12. BlackStar Film Festival
Where: Various locations
When: Thursday, August 3rd-Sunday, August 6th
The Blackstar Film Festival runs through this Sunday and is one of the major events of the weekend. There will be film screenings, Q&A discussions, panels, parties, and many more activities. This Saturday night there will be an extremely engaging conversation with Oscar nominated director Ava DuVernay before the closing awards ceremony that will rap up the night and the festival.

13. 2nd Street Festival
Where: The Schmidt’s Commons, 1001 N. 2nd St.
When: Sunday, August 6th, 12PM-10PM
The first of the Sunday events on this list is none other the annual 2nd Street Festival. The Northern Liberties free to enter event will have three live music stages, eight beer gardens, and over two-hundred and fifty vendors on location. Several bars, entertainment venues, and restaurants in the area will be hosting events as well. There will be an official after party at North Bowl.

14. Museum Sundays
Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy and Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Sunday, August 6th, 10AM-5PM
Each first Sunday of the month the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes Foundation run a discount events. The Barnes Foundation has free admission and the Philadelphia Museum of Art its pay-what-you-wish. This is a great way to see celebrated and pioneering artistic works from around the globe at these state-of-the-art institutions.

15. Eagles Open Practice & Spotlight
Where: Lincoln Financial Field, 1020 Pattison Ave.
When: Sunday, August 6th, 8:30AM-2PM
The Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting their second and final open practice of training for the general public. Lincoln Financial Field will welcome crowds as the football team will be holding practices, signing autographs, and posing for the cameras. Last Sunday 23,000 roaring fans came out to see the Eagles players take the field.

16. Jamaican Independence Day Celebration
Where: Between Broad and South and 16th and South St.
When: Sunday, August 6th, 12PM-8PM
Philadelphia will celebrating the 55th Independence Day of Jamaica this Sunday. This commemorative and celebratory event will have food and drinking contests, cultural foods, arts, crafts, live music, and plenty activities for all attend. There will also be a special Bob Marley tribute at this event. This is a free to enter event.

17. ACANA African Festival
Where: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.
When: Sunday, August 6th, 12PM-8PM
The 2017 ACANA African Festival is this Sunday at Penn’s Landing. The Great Plaza will have live music, amazing performers, food, drinks, and more. There will also be vendors throughout the property with cultural pieces, collectibles, and other items. This event is free to enter and will serve up a great display of the African diaspora.

18. Lifehouse & Switchfoot
Where: The Fillmore Philadelphia, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Sunday, August 6th, 7PM
Alternative rock bands Lifehouse and Switchfoot will be the headlining acts The Fillmore Philadelphia this Sunday. The “You and Me” and “Hanging by a Moment” band, Lifehouse, hasn’t released an album since 2015 but has experienced great chart success in the past. Switchfoot released an album last year titled Where the Light Shines Through. The “Dare You to Move” band’s songs have been featured in many media platforms. Come see both acts at one of the best music venues in the city.
