Forget about … Mack Hollins?
Former Eagle Mike Quick was on the WIP Midday Show today with Joe DeCamara and Josh Ritchie and was asked about the team’s wide receivers and how they look during camp. Of course, we know Jeffery has missed four straight practices, but Quick didn’t seem as impressed by him when he did practice as he does with Nelson Agholor.

In fact, Quick said Agholor was the most talented wide receiver on the roster.

“That is a real misnomer and that’s one we have to see. I’m a Nelson Agholor fan and I went on record – I know I did an article with Dave Spadaro at the end of the season – and I was talking about how I don’t give up on Nelson Agholor because I watch him every day and I see how talented he is. And trust me when I tell you, there’s no wide receiver on this roster that has more talent than Nelson Agholor. There’s no wide receiver that runs better routes, and in this particular camp, has caught the ball any better than Nelson Agholor.
“The big deal is, though, and you mentioned it, will he be able to do that after the preseason when you get into the regular season when it counts the most? Is he be able to transfer what he’s been able to do in practice, and also, what he was able to do at USC as a Trojan? He was a big-time player – there’s a reason why he was drafted in the first round. Now, if he’s able to now feel comfortable enough that he’s truly an NFL receiver and one of the better NFL receivers, which is what he looks like in this training camp, then you really have something.”
We’ve been down this road before. I genuinely hope Quick is right. And I do think Agholor can improve based on what’s now around him. He can’t be a number one or number two. At least not yet. With Jeffery, Smith and Matthews there, and with some threats in the passing game coming out of the backfield, Agholor may be poised to have his best season yet.
But, still, like Quick said, it remains to be seen.
