What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: September 1-4

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Events Running Through the Weekend

1. Labor Day Weekend Philly

Where: Various locations
When: Friday, September 1st- Monday, September 4th

It’s Labor Day Weekend in the City of Brotherly Love. There are several events and activities going on to commemorate the national holiday over the next four days. There will be daily activities at various locations on the Delaware Waterfront including fireworks at the Seaport Museum. Franklin Square Labor Day celebrations will also highlight the weekend. The Museum of the American Revolution will have free admission all weekend.

2. Old City First Fridays

Where: Various locations
When: Friday, September 1st

It’s the First Friday of the month which means many of the eateries, bars, shops, galleries, and studios in Old City will be opening their doors for the area’s monthly celebrations. The activities include cruises, art exhibitions, movie nights, workshops, and much more. Come out to this community engaging event.

3. Independence After Hours

Where: Various locations
When: Runs through Sunday, October 21st

Independence After Hours offers you a one-of-a-kind historic experience each week. Journey back to 1776 with lively tours of several landmarks in the city. Participants will be able to dine at City Tavern for a dated meal. Guest will also be able to encounter and interact with reenactments and several characters including Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and others.

4. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

Where: Clark Park, 4300 Baltimore Ave.
When: Friday, September 1st, 8PM

Clark Park will be having a free screening of the magical film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The outdoor theater will have snacks, beverages, and more up for sale. Attendees can feel free to bring their blankets and loved ones to this weekly entertaining gathering and partake in movies under the stars.

5. Havana Nights

Where: World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut St.
When: Friday, September 1st, 7PM

World Cafe Live’s monthly Havana Nights celebration takes place this Friday night. The musical treasure will have cultural food and a live band at this event. Come to this free celebration and listen to Conjunto Philadelphia add some flare and excitement to your Friday night.

6. HennyPalooza

Where: Trocadero Theatre, 1003 Arch St.
When: Friday, September 1st, 4PM

The annual party Hennypalooza will be coming to the Trocadero Theatre this Friday night. Just in time for your Labor Day Weekend parties, this drinking extravaganza will have great DJs, a crazy atmosphere, and will of course it will be brimming with Hennessy.

7. I Love The 90’s: The Party Continues Tour

Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Friday, September 1st, 6PM

If you’re looking for a flashback feeling and a good time come to the BB&T Pavilion this weekend. There you’re likely to find acts that were on your first generation iPod. The I Love The 90’s: The Party Continues Tour includes TLC, Blackstreet, Biz Markie, Mark McGrath, Naughty By Nature, and more.

8. Made in America Comedy Jam

Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, September 1st, 8PM

Punch Line Philly will be kicking off Made In America weekend with a sensational Comedy Jam. The night will begin with a comedy show featuring Skeet Carter, Buck Wild, and Turae Gordon. After the show, there will be a silent party to end the night. You can purchase combo tickets or buy solo tickets for either event.

9. Food Truck Frenzy

Where: Neshaminy Mall, Corner of Rockhill Dr & Neshaminy Blvd. Bensalem, PA
When: Saturday, September 2nd, 11AM-4PM

Food Truck Frenzy comes to the Neshaminy Mall this Saturday. The  food truck pop will feature two additional dates  before the year ends. There will be live music, mercantile vendors, children’s games, and plenty of food trucks. Come to this busy shopping area for a little fun.

10. Volksfest

Where: Cannstatter Volkfest Verein, 9130 Academy Rd.
When: Saturday, September 2nd through Monday, September 4th

Every Labor Day Weekend the Cannstatter host a poplar Volkfest event. The Oktoberfest themed blowout has crafts, German themed beers, dancing performances, music, and more. The cultural celebration will have traditional food, games, rides, and plenty of activities for the entire family.

11. Temple at Notre Dame Watch Party

Where: City Tap House Logan, 2 Logan Sq.
When: Saturday, September 2nd, 2:30PM

It’s officially football season. Local favorite, the Temple Owls, will be taking on a school formally known for football glory. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Temple Owl start their seasons going head-to-head this Saturday. Come to City Tap House Logan Square for drink specials and tons of fans getting ready for the afternoon kickoff.

12. Made In America Music Festival

Where: Benjamin Franklin Parkway
When: Saturday, September 2nd and Sunday, September 3rd

If you’ve been in Philly over the past few years during Labor Day Weekend, you’ve noticed the massive influx of people packing the city. The reason is none other than the annual Made In America Music Festival. Presented Budweiser, this years lineup includes Jay Z, J Cole, Solange, The Chainsmokers, Kaskade, Migos, and other. This is one of the biggest events in the city each year brining in celebrities, entertainers, and insane afterparties throughout the entire weekend.

13. . Moana

Where: Franklin Square, 6th St. & Race St.
When: Saturday, September 2nd, 8PM-11PM

This Saturday night Franklin Square will project a free screening of the Disney film Moana. The family friendly area and film will be a welcomed event in this upcoming lively weekend. The park has plenty of games and amenities including the featured carousel and mini-golf. The movie area will have popcorn and other snacks available for sale.

14. R&B Only

Where: The Fillmore Philadelphia, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Saturday, September 2nd, 8PM-2AM

The Fillmore Philadelphia will be musically invaded by COLORS Presents: R&B only this Saturday night. DJ Printz and Jabari are bringing their nationwide tour to this great local music venue. This musical events celebrates the best in R&B music by playing the genre all night and holding a massive party. There will be drinks specials and the best jams will be played throughout.

15. R5 Punk Rock Pop-Up Market

Where: Spruce Street Harbor Park, 401 S. Columbus Blvd.
When: Sunday, September 3rd, 12PM-5PM

Spruce Street Harbor Park will be hosting an open air flea market this Sunday. The R5 Punk Rock Pop-Up Flea Market will be filled with the most intricate collectibles and handmade crafts. The market will have 16 vendors selling pieces. Stop by the waterfront park to see some amazing local artisans.

16. Museum Sundays

Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy and Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy
When: Sunday, September 3rd, 10AM-5PM

The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Barnes Foundation make the first Sunday of each month a priority for Philadelphians. The Philadelphia Museum of Art will be pay-what-you-wish this Sunday and The Barnes Foundation offer free admission to several events. Come see the galleries and artistic splendor that each of these institutions have to offer.

17. Blue Corn Organic and Green Festival

Where: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.
When: Sunday, September 3rd, 1PM-6PM

The PECO Multicultural Festival series continues this weekend with the Blue Corn Organic and Green Festival. This agricultural gathering will have green market owners, restauranteurs, live music, vendors, artisans, tribal groups, and more. The event will be a community stimulating display that shows a complete unity amongst conscious and organic growers.

18. Battleship New Jersey Fireworks

Where: Battleship New Jersey, 62 Battleship Pl. Camden, NJ
When: Sunday, September 3rd, 7PM-10PM

The Camden Waterfront will be pulling off a Labor Day Weekend celebration of their own. The Sunday come to Battleship New Jersey for a light show and festivities. For $10 you’ll have access to bar service, music, food concessions, face painting for kids, and an amazing view of the event’s fireworks.

19. Meek Mill

Where: NOTO Philadelphia, 1209 Vine St.
When: Sunday, September 3rd, 9PM

Philly’s own Meek Mill will be performing at NOTO Philadelphia this Sunday night. The rapper recently released the album Wins & Losses and you can guarantee the hip hop act will pull out several singles from the production to fuel his some crowd with. For a great show that gets you out of the heat and craziness of the parkway, stop by NOTO.
