Week seven is in the rear view mirror for the Philadelphia Eagles and the rest of their division rivals in the NFC East. So where does each team currently stand in the division and what should you look for this upcoming week? I’ve got you covered in this week’s NFC East Report for the eighth week of the regular season!
Standings
Man, the NFC East is an absolute joke right now. No team has managed to truly seperate itself from the rest of the pack as the true favorite to win the division. While the Giants are technically in first place, they were just demolished by the Eagles a week ago. They barely beat the Cowboys on Sunday, even with Matt Cassel tossing three interceptions. It seems like nobody really wants to win the division, they’re basically this year’s equivalent of the NFC South in 2014. Will we also see a team with a losing record win the division? Ew.
New York Giants (4-3)
The Giants got a much needed win this past weekend over the Cowboys but let’s be honest, they barely beat a team led by Matt Cassel. Is that really worth celebrating? This week the Giants will face a much tougher test as they’ll have to travel down to the Big Easy to take on the Saints, who have managed to wake up after being destroyed by the Eagles in Week 5. Drew Brees looks rejuvenated and should be able to pick apart the Giants’ battered secondary. It’s going to be quite a test for the G-Men, going from facing a career back-up to one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
Next Game: @ New Orleans Saints, Sunday, November 1st, 1:00 PM EST
Washington Redskins (3-4)
“YOU LIKE THAT!” is what we all heard following the Redskins’ impressive comeback victory over the Buccaneers. Kirk Cousins torched the Bucs towards the end of the game, eerily similar to his clutch performance against the Eagles earlier in the season. But now Cousins may have taken his “fame” a bit too far. Just look at this ridiculous shirt that Cousins made following his post-game quote that went viral:
YOU LIKE THAT!

Next Game: BYE
Philadelphia Eagles (3-4)
Drops on drops on drops. The Eagles have dropped the ball both figuratively and literally through the first seven weeks of the regular season. Chip Kelly’s plan has failed thus far as Sam Bradford continues to struggle, the wide receivers can’t even catch a cold and DeMarco Murray looks downright awful. But luckily for the Birds, they’re heading into a much needed bye week and will hopefully be able to straighten out some of their glaring issues. That being said, their first game back will be a must-win game against the Cowboys which could propel them back into first place depending on what the Giants do as well.
Next Game: BYE
Dallas Cowboys (2-4)
Let’s be honest, the Cowboys are absolutely screwed until Tony Romo returns in Week 11 against the Dolphins. They were hoping that a switch from Brandon Weeden to Matt Cassel would somehow spark their offense but that obviously didn’t happen. Now they’re heading into a rough three game stretch without Romo against the Seahawks, Eagles and Buccaneers. They’ll be lucky to go 2-1 through that stretch and stay afloat in the race for first place in the NFC East. But then again, considering how awful this division has been thus far, anything is possible!
Next Game: vs. Seattle Seahawks, Sunday, November 1st, 4:25 PM EST
