When Jay Ajayi takes his first snap with the Philadelphia Eagles he will be wearing the number of a former great at running and member of the team’s Hall of Fame.
That’ll be No. 36, Brian Westbrook’s old number.
Ajayi wore the No. 23 with the Dolphins, but Rodney McLeod occupies that number and Malcolm Jenkins currently dons Ajayi’s college number of 27. So 36 it is!

Ajayi was a fifth-round selection out of Boise State in 2015 and fell due to knee concerns. He is only averaging 3.4 yards per carry this season behind a shoddy offensive line, which is ranked 28th in the NFL according to NFL Outsiders, and bad quarterback play after he burst on the scene last year with 1,272 yards and eight touchdowns.
