1. Closing Soon: Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest

Where: Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest, 101 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd.
When: Runs through Sunday, March 3rd.

The end has sorrowfully come. The Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest will be closing its doors this weekend. In its 25th year, the wintry themed entertainment center has a cabin selling great food and beverages, has a lodge with arcade games, and a massive rink that’s been jumping daily. Come say goodbye to the seasonal structure before it’s too late

2. Closing Soon: Chestnut Hill Restaurant Week

When: Runs through Friday, March 1st

This Friday ends Chestnut Hill Resturant Week. This will be your last chance to grab three-course prix fixe meals in the beautiful area of the city. Come out for great deals, booming crowds, and sizzling dishes before it’s too late.

3. Closing Soon: Fabulous Fashion 

Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Runs through Sunday, March 3rd

The Philadelphia Museum of art will be closing this fantastic exhibit this Sunday. Fabulous Fashion: From Dior’s New Look to Now put on display glamours dresses, contemporary pieces, and several other masterpieces in this costume collection for months. Come see how famed, classic, and modern designers used shapes, metallics, draping, patterns, and more to make bold and elegant statements.

4. Closing Soon: Shun Yen 

Where: Merriam Theater, 250 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, March 3rd

Shen Yun has brought artist levity from several generations of traditional Chinese culture to the City of Brotherly Love for weeks. The pageantry, spiritual origins, and history of this great performance have been illuminating the halls of the Merriam Theater beautifully over this time. Stop by this gem of a theater soon.

5. Closing Soon: Vikings Beyond the Legend

Where: The Franklin Institute, 222 N. 20th St.
When: Runs through Sunday, March 3rd

Vikings: Beyond the Legend will close this Sunday at The Franklin Institute. This special Vikings Festival has included 600 artifacts, a Full-size 21-foot replica Viking Ship, and Norse mythology. The Viking names, event, and activities will be coming to an end very soon.

6. Black History Month Events this Weekend

When: Various times

This weekend officially ushers in the month of March and fades out the celebratory Black History Month. However, there will be several events and cultural performances brewing this weekend in the city during the waning moments of BHM. This weekend concludes with the world-premiere performance by Dance Theatre of Harlem. Please be sure to check out the amazing events running through Sunday.

7. Women’s History Month

The end of one cultural celebration month springs into Women’s History Month each year. There will be several events, celebrations, discussions, entertainment, and panels discussing several nuanced topics orbiting women on a daily basis. Be sure to look up all the book readings, tours, panels, and more.

8. East Passyunk Restaurant Week

When: Runs through Friday, March 8th

East Passyunk Restaurant Avenue Week will be operating through the end of next week. These days will feature three-course prix fixe lunch and/or dinner for $15, $25 or $35. More than twenty restaurants in the area will be buzzing with great deals and a booming crowd.

9. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Where: Academy of Music, 240 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Saturday, March 2nd

Another cultural dance celebration will be coming to the city this weekend in the form Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The Philadelphia premiere of Lazarus, choreographed by Philadelphia’s own Rennie Harris will be highlighting the Academy of Music this Friday and Saturday.

10. A Soul in a Song 

Where: National Marian Anderson Museum, 762 S. Martin St.
When: Runs through January 2020

The National Marian Anderson Museum will be presenting A Soul in a Song to the Philadelphia community through the next year. The institute asks you to “come on a musical Journey through the treasured history of the Great Marian Anderson, her Recording career, performance story and epic legacy as told through our New Exhibition ‘Marian A Soul In Song’.”

11. A Comedy of Tenors 

Where: Walnut Street Theatre, 825 Walnut St.
When: Runs through Sunday, March 3rd

Ken Ludwig’s A Comedy of Tenors will be front and center at the Walnut Street Theatre through this Sunday. Set in 1930s Paris, this hilarious comedy centers on hijinks, love affairs, mistaken identities, and so many other zany plots.

12. A Fierce Kind of Love

Where: FringeArts, 140 N. Christopher Columbus Boulevard
When: Runs through Sunday, March 3rd

FringeArts describes A Fierce Kind of Love as a wonderous production that “combines text, movement, and song to chart the Movement’s remarkable history and celebrate the struggle, activism, and fierce love that fuels the desire for dignity.” Since its 2016 premiere, this fantastic work has captivated audiences.

13. The Philly POPS Uptown Nights

Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Saturday, March 2nd

Philly POPS Uptown Nights will be heralding the halls of the Kimmel Center through this Saturday. Byron Stripling will be having 3 series of concerts with vocalist Carmen Bradford and tap
Leo Manzari. This will be a memorable night of stellar musicianship and talent.

14. Friday Night at the Barnes Foundation

Where: Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Friday, March 1st, 6PM-9PM

The Barnes Foundation will be the first on the list to highlight the first Friday of the month events. Larry Williams of the Lyric Brass Quintet and flutist Julietta Curenton will be starred in this great institution. Mozart’s Flute Concerto no. 2 in D Major, Haydn’s charming Symphony no. 45 in F# minor, and The Farewell will all be on display.

15. Old Cit First Fridays

Each First Friday of the month Old City opens its galleries and studios for a little fun. Several participating spaces will have painting collection, wood workings, sculptures, furniture, metal works, and more all throughout several buildings. Cherry Street Pier and other places in Old City will all be participating.

16. Frankford Ave First Fridays 

Where: Various locations
When: Various times

Fishtown will be surging with art, culture, food, bar festivities and more. March’s First Friday! will feature special Happy Hours, sports talks, conversations about marginalized communities, art auctions, dance parties, art shows, and several other activities.

17. Havana Nights 

Havana Nights: A Celebration of Cuban Music & Food

Where: World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut St.
When: Friday, March 1st, 9PM

This is one of the more musically entertaining events on the list. To top it off, the entire rhythmic gathering is free. World Cafe Live will be hosting their recurring series Havana Nights this Friday. There will be live salsa music played by Conjunto Philadelphia, dancing, food, and beverages.

18. Ali Saddiq 

ALI SIDDIQ

Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Through Saturday, March 2nd

Ali Saddiq will be bringing all the laughs to Punch Line Philly this weekend. The former HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and Live from Gotham act has a long resume of entertaining masses of crowds. If you’re levity and jokes to your weekend, look no further.

19. Philadelphia Flower Show

When: Runs through Sunday, March 10th

The 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show begins this Saturday. Thousands of flowers will be designed, arranged, and collected to align with this year’s theme: Wonders of Water. The Philadelphia Horticultural Society always presents a glorious showcase bursting with the most splendid displays you’ll ever see. Also this weekend they’ll be throwing a Beatle’s themed Flowers After Hours party.

20. PHILADANCO!

Where: Longwood Gardens, 1001 Longwood Rd. Kennett Square. PA
When: Saturday, March 2nd, 1PM & 4PM

The Philadelphia Dance Company, or PHILADANCO!, using its phenomenal creativity and generally  African American traditional dances to wow crowds across the world. This weekend they will be at the gloriously scenic Longwood Gardens. Come see the rhythmic innovation in this amazing landscape.

21. Philly Craft Beer Festival

When: Saturday, March 2nd, 1:30PM-5PM

The 2019 Craft Beer Festival will be crowding the Philadelphia Navy Yard this weekend. In its 13th year, you can come out and join the masses sampling over 200 beers from several regional breweries. There will be dozens of food trucks, VIP drinking sessions, live music, ax throwing, and more.

22. Butler vs. Villanova

When: Saturday, March 2nd, 2PM

This weekend, the Villanova Wildcats will be taking on the Butler Bulldogs at the Wells Fargo Center. Come see another storied Big East war as the Wildcats look to climb back into NCAA relevancy before March.

23. Toronto FC vs Union

Preseason soccer is over! It’s time to spark the Talen Energy Stadium with some raucous fans this Saturday. The Philadelphia Union will be taking on Toronto FC for the first game of the season. Bring all your crazed energy and soccer enthusiasm to this packed arena.

24. Warriors vs. 76ers

When: Saturday, March 2nd, 8:30PM

Let’s begin this excerpt hoping beloved Boban has a speedy recovery. The Philadelphia 76ers will be taking on the Golden State Warriors this Saturday night during this recent streak of Western Conference opponents. The Sixers were able to win out West last time these two teams matched up, let’s see if they can keep their winning ways against this premier opponent.

25. Museum Sundays

Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy and Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Sunday, Monday 3rd, starts at 10AM

The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Barnes Foundation will be offering up the most wallet-friendly event this Sunday. The Philadelphia Museum of Art will be pay-what-you-wish and Once Upon a Time themed. There will be bookmaking, storytelling, and Pennsylvania Ballet II premiere of Fairy Rhymes. The Barnes will host its PECO Free First Sunday Family Day: More Than Meets the Eye program. There will be an art-making session, a math mystery challenge, storytime, artist conversations, and Open Studio: Eric Goldberg segment, and more.

26. Golden Globetrotters

The Original Harlem Globetrotters

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Sunday, March 3rd, 12PM & 5PM

The Wells Fargo Center won’t just be filled with the 76ers and Villanova’s brand of basketball this weekend. The Harlem Globetrotters are coming to town and plan on pulling out all the tricks and thrills that have made them a household name for decades. Bring your entire family out to this amazing show.
