When Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf eased restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings Monday, Philadelphians had a few images in mind: Their first Dollar Dog night at the WFC, screaming at Citizens Bank Park after Harper knocks one out the park, and booing as Penguins players hit the ice at a flyers game. The wait is finally over! The City of Philadelphia announced on Tuesday that the occupancy limits for indoor and outdoor venues will match the limits set by the state.
Pennsylvania will now allow 15% capacity indoors and 20% outdoor capacity for events (regardless of venue size). Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley has now matched that bar, enabling fans at the Wells Fargo Center and at Citizens Bank Park.
The stadiums also will be required to follow the regulations of the NBA, NHL, and MLB.
The Wells Fargo Center can hold about 20,480 fans. Citizens Bank Park has a capacity of about 42,800 fans. The change to the Safer-At-Home order, now allows for around 3,000 fans at Sixers and Flyers games and roughly 8,550 fans at Phillies games. However, the number of players, coaches, team staff members, and stadium employees will reduce those numbers.
